More from the article ...

... A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration's attempts to limit members of Congress from visiting detention facilities operated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb ruled Wednesday that ICE cannot enforce newly adopted policies that require lawmakers to provide seven days notice before visiting detention facilities and entirely barring congressional visits to field offices being used to detain immigrants.

Those policies, adopted in June, appear to violate explicit language in federal funding laws -- adopted annually since 2020 -- that prohibit ICE from restricting lawmakers' access to its facilities, Cobb concluded. ...

So, now Congress can inspect ICE detention facilities without prior notice, to see the actual conditions experienced by the detainees in those facilities?

And not "conditions" that the Trump admin seems to acknowledge it needs taken seven days to create?

This is A Good Thing.

They should be allowed to visit at any time, with prior authorization just like everyone else. They CAN NOT INTERFERE WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT, PUSH THEIR WAY PAST THEM, OR ASSAULT THEM all in the name of grandstanding to get on the news, and give the impression that they really give a rat's tail.

America deliberately had immigration policies that allowed for a porous border, as after the Bracero program was stopped in 1964, workers were hard to find. And now, those hard working people are being penalized.
Yes, the American people want and demand strong borders, but at a minimum, the Dreamers need a path to citizenship.
And yes, President Biden should have been far, far more devoted to protecting the borders. He was warned it quite possibly would allow Trump back in, I remember one member of the press really hammering him on that point, and so now...here we are.
Admit all sides are at fault, but stop the violence and intimidation. Tell employers that they will be financially penalized if they hire undocumented immigrants, and everyone move on.

Republicans hate The Constitution, when it comes to illegal immigrants.
