The Incredible Shrinking MAGA

What's happening with the coalition that elected Trump in 2024? How much of that constellation of constituencies is still with him? On those questions, the latest Fox News poll is nothing short of astonishing. On both his general approval ratings and many major issues, his numbers among voter groups that have reliably supported him in the past are awful. They're also terrible among the non-Trumpy groups that he pulled into the coalition in 2024.

More

How far can MAGA continue to get if it keeps purging itself down to its ever-more-molten core? That remains to be seen, but it's clear that its glorious leader appears very determined to find out.

__________
The Incredible Shrinking MAGA

"MAGA" is not a "coalition" it's a slogan that means whatever Trump wants it to mean on any given day - he said it himself: "I am MAGA" -

Trump said that "those who oppose his policies in the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement are not MAGA. ... I AM MAGA!"

Yes, all in CAPS!

So it's always been a "coalition," a "movement" of ONE (as cults of personality tend to be), there's only so much room to shrink.

All MAGA indicates is you're a white supremacist moron who puts the good of Donald Trump ahead of the good of the nation.

Trump is right, he is MAGA and the MAGAts are his puppets.

@#2 ... "MAGA" is not a "coalition" it's a slogan that means whatever Trump wants it to mean on any given day - he said it himself: "I am MAGA" - ...

In some aspects (most aspects?) I would tend to agree.

Pres Trump had defined MAGA.

But now, we need to look at MAGA as a living life force.

Will MAGA survive beyond Pres Trump's reign?

If so, from where will it take its marching orders?

It has been obvious that MAGA seems to be unable to think for itself, instead relying upon the dicta of their cult leader.

But what happens when that cult leader is no longer in office?

Or, maybe, that future scenario is not in their plans?
