When Trump kicked off the Iran War many American citizens were caught off guard and were struggling to get out of the region safely. At the time story after news story told the tale of an American stranded in the Middle East and getting little help from the U.S. government to help them get out. Semafor writes that one country surprisingly stepped in to help Americans: Canada.
"The Canadian embassy "did not hesitate. The answer was an immediate yes," a senior State Department official told Semafor, asking not to be named because the information isn't public."
