When asked why he robbed banks, legendary fugitive Willie Sutton replied, "That's where the money is." Governments coerce social media platforms into censorship for the same simple reason: That's where the objectionable speech is. Thanks to a recent Supreme Court case, in America, there's also little to stop them.

You'll have to believe me that I'm not trying to make a partisan statement when I say that everything the Democrats have done leading up to this election has been inauthentic, phony, and panic-stricken"from swapping out their candidate at the very last minute to flip-flopping on major issues like banning fracking, taxing tips, and EV mandates. In some ways, I think the party would be doing better if they just took a breath and let Kamala Harris's campaign unwind like any other normal campaign. But if Democrats are experts at one thing, it's micromanaging things to death out of narcissistic adoration for their own faux intellect"hence we get genius ideas like price-fixing the economy, defunding the police, minting a trillion dollar coin, segregating college campuses to fight racism or trying to tell you what type of stove you can use at home

X, the social-media giant owned by Elon Musk, has officially been banned in Brazil. Last night, X failed to meet a deadline set by a Supreme Court judge to block vast swathes of content and appoint a local legal representative for the company. It has now gone offline to its 22million Brazilian users " roughly one tenth of the national population

It was bad enough that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris never said the names of the 13 fallen from the disastrous exit from Afghanistan. It tanked both of their approval ratings. It exposed just how incompetent Joe Biden was as a leader, and Harris, too, who bragged about being the "last person in the room." Why weren't they properly remembered? Probably because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris wanted to deflect from the operation as much as possible. Their indifference was so bad that there was a grassroots effort to get Joe Biden to "say their names.

I'm not sure what Tim Walz is thinking. The Minnesota governor and Democratic vice presidential nominee is getting a ton of media scrutiny " as he should " because Vice President Kamala Harris chose him as her running mate. And it's not all painting him in a positive light. A growing number of examples show Walz either exaggerating or lying about his past. We're not close to George Santos territory here (the former Republican congressman who was outed for making up huge swaths of his past, as well as fundraising numbers), but it's still concerning. These are unnecessary, unforced errors, and they should make voters question what they can trust when Walz speaks.

" Vice President Kamala Harris received predominantly favorable coverage from the three major news networks after becoming the Democratic nominee, a new study reveals. Conducted by the conservative Media Research Center (MRC), the study found that 84% of Harris's coverage was positive, in sharp contrast to the 89% negative coverage of former President Trump. The MRC analyzed comments from reporters, anchors, and guests on NBC News, ABC News, and CBS News evening programs, starting July 21.

..

After President Biden announced his exit from the race and endorsed Harris on the same day, she became the presumptive Democratic nominee, officially securing the nomination in early August. Since Biden's withdrawal, Harris was considered the party's de facto leader. The analysis found 57 positive comments about Harris across all three networks, compared to just 11 negative remarks.

Minnesota Governor Tim Harris's running mate, also garnered more favorable coverage than his Republican counterpart, Senator JD Vance. According to the study, 62% of Walz's coverage was positive, while Vance received 92% negative coverage"

Some caveats:

Ultimately the source is Media Research Center which is a biased outfit (far less so than Media matters IMO) founded by Brett Bozell. My understanding is that statistical analysis of this nature is ultimately obtained via LexisNexis which is purely data-driven analytics but can't account for vagaries and context. So, a grain of salt is needed.

Having said all of that the raw analytics are eye-popping and are so skewed that in no way can the caveats explain away gross disparities as to how the media treat Dems so much more favorably than Reps.
