Trump Thanks Venezuela's Machado For Giving Him Her Nobel Peace Prize

President Donald Trump thanked Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado for giving him her Nobel Peace Prize earlier Thursday.

"Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you Mara!" Trump wrote on TruthSocial. A senior White House official told NOTUS that Trump intends to keep the medal.

The president made it no secret last year that he coveted the award, repeatedly bringing up why he thought he deserved it -- even though he ordered military strikes in seven countries in 2025.

Though Trump was chuffed that Machado gifted him the medal, the Nobel Peace Center noted earlier Thursday that the laureate title is nontransferable.
