"Self-citation, repeat publishing of the same data just changed a bit in presentation, shady analysis, P hacking ect. All because the lab system there for biology is like little fiefdoms and the primary currency is papers and citations."
For my type of chemistry, it is much harder to cheat and not get caught. Advanced statistics rarely apply, most labs can reproduce your results in a relatively short period of time, and sometimes do to get their own work done. The equipment needed is common enough.
A lab can quickly get a good or bad reputation.
Papers and citations are the currency of academia. Honesty, until recently, was assumed. Lately a much bigger problem everywhere.
"Shouldn't there be some sort of perjury issue here?"
That would have to be taken up by the DOJ to prosecute.
Same with Bovino in Chicago.
I hope someone is keeping a list of these people for when a less lawless administration regains power.
