Employers across the U.S. added 228,000 jobs in March, pointing to a labor market that remains resilient despite economic headwinds from President Trump's tariffs and sticky inflation. The numbers Economists expected that employers had hired 130,000 people last month, according to financial data firm FactSet. That compares with a revised 117,000 additions in February, according to financial data firm FactSet.
The Energy Department (DOE) considers more than 40 percent of its staffers to be nonessential " meaning these people could be on the chopping block " as mass layoffs loom at the agency and across the federal government. A document viewed by The Hill on Friday states that out of the agency's current headcount of 15,994 positions " 9,004 are essential, meaning some 7,000 other positions are not. The approximately 16,000 total positions listed by the agency does include nearly 1,300 people who are currently on leave because they accepted the "Fork in the Road" buyout or because their roles related to diversity, equity and inclusion, which the administration sought to eliminate from the government.

President Trump on Wednesday is set to give a "Make America Wealthy Again" speech Wednesday afternoon, when he is expected to announce additional taxes on certain imported goods, as well as reciprocal tariffs on other nations. Trump has deemed April 2 "Liberation Day" because of the tariffs. Despite concern over the economy and financial markets in the U.S. and abroad, the president has argued that the tariffs will boost domestic manufacturing. He has said he's also implementing them to help to curb the flow of drugs, such as fentanyl, from entering the U.S. The perceived trade war, which has sparked significant backlash on both sides of the aisle, follows tariffs imposed earlier this month on Canada, Mexico and China.
Job cuts at federal health agencies began Tuesday as some employees have received notices that their jobs had been terminated. How many jobs are being cut was unclear as of Tuesday morning, but some employees at health departments lost access to be able to get into buildings, CNN reports. Last week the Health and Human Services Department announced it would be cutting 10,000 jobs as the agency undergoes a reconstruction plan. The workforce will drop from 82,000 to 62,000 positions.
as I already mentioned before, the GOP sabotaged immigration reforms so ... Seems to me that high inflation was the issue that was universal amongst all nations.

The GOP refused to back immigration reform that didn't reform immigration. Spin it however you want, but the truth is the Dems didn't want to put a halt on illegal immigration.
