With regard to the fossil fuel industry, except for mainly environmental regulations, the government isn't in the way. And those regulations are there because that industry has a proven track record of crapping all over the environment.

But I think you're advocating for something different...

How is government "getting out of the way" going to compel the industry to keep their product in America, as so many conservatives think they should? The fossil fuel industry is ALWAYS going to sell it's products to whomever will pay the most. Anywhere in the world.

Isn't THIS exactly what the right is always advocating for as they're screeching that the US should be "energy independent"? The only way the US could ever achieve said "energy independence" would be for government to seize all domestic means of energy production and distribution (eliminate the free market).

Why is the right constantly accusing the left of doing exactly what the right would like to do?

And over what do you think the left would like to implement government control? All of the things I can think of would and do run much better without a private sector middle-man.

It wouldn't matter. The area where I live has some of the best internet service in the nation, yet these morons still vote 80 percent red. They use our great internet to stream every piece of misinformation they can find.

While I don't condone his execution, the dead insurance CEO was probably responsible for FAR more deaths than his executioner. Even if the killer is tried and convicted, justice will not be served until there is significant change to the system that most likely inspired the killing.

I'm sure that I will take some flack for this...

I know several vets collecting disability benefits who are no more disabled than I am at 63 years of age. Several of them are are friends. So I don't dare speak out directly to them about it. Most of them are collecting these benefits, AND working full time jobs as well.

I think such benefits should be paid to those who can demonstrate real disability. But the way the current system analyzes vets for disability, many of them are collecting benefits when they have no more issue than the average civilian who could NEVER qualify for SSI.

With an incoming administration so focused on cost cutting, this is an area that I actually hope gets significant scrutiny.

Pay cash for a few stitches? Yeah, maybe. But about half this country can't afford tires for their car without stretching their finances. You expect that they have credit cards capable of handling thousands of dollars worth of medical bills? Your privilege certainly shows through every time this type of discussion comes up.

In many places it may be one of the few choices offered. OR if you get insurance from your employer, that may be the only choice.

United Healthcare denies more than 30 percent of their claims. This kinda feels like a pitchfork situation to me.

I hope it hits the red states first.
