The Debate Between Harris and Trump Wasn’t Close

The majority of the focus coming into Tuesday was about how Harris would handle her first-ever presidential debate with someone who had been on this stage many times.

More

Could she answer questions about her position shifts; parry attacks from Trump, someone who tries to be the alpha on these stages; could she answer the attack that she's light on policy; and could she appear "presidential"?

Comments

"She may have seemed nervous at first, but she quickly found her voice and more than acquitted herself well.

All of those questions were quickly dispatched:
see thread link

"Trump made the unusual move for a presidential candidate to go into the spin room after the debate and talk to reporters.

That's not something that's normally done when someone has a good debate.

That's usually reserved for low-polling primary candidates, who felt they didn't get enough time or attention during the debate."

Trump's body language wept defeat last night. It all started with Harris having to chase him down in his own territory for a hand shake, During the debate itself, Trump never looked at Harris once. Intimidated? Angry? Both?

@#2 ... Trump's body language wept defeat last night. It all started with Harris having to chase him down in his own territory for a hand shake, ...

I was wondering if there was going to be a handshake.

That VP Harris walked over to fmr Pres Trump's podium to shake his hand in the beginning shows the weak, defensive posture that fmr Pres Trump had.

Trump never looked at Harris once.

He would really have lost it if he had... seeing her smirking at him like that.

This Was the Beginning of Donald Trump's Final Unraveling
Harris was good. Really good. But Trump was hideously bad. Huh"maybe those two points are connected.

Let's cut to the chase:

"I have concepts of a plan" was the defining moment of this debate and is going to go down in presidential debate lore as one of the most pathetic lines in debate history.

For the record, it was about health care"specifically, the long-awaited but never arriving Republican replacement for Obamacare.

David Muir asked Trump if he had a plan to finally deliver what conservative lawmakers spent well over a decade failing to solve. And he uttered the imperishable words.

Kamala Harris was really good Tuesday night"really, really good.

She accomplished everything she needed to accomplish.

She sliced and diced him. She dangled bait, and he leapt at the hook. But as good as she was, Trump was more bad than Harris was good.

Or maybe he was bad because she was good:

That is to say, she wrong-footed him time after time after time in ways that President Joe Biden did not, throwing him off his game, staring him down, speaking directly to him, challenging him, saying "you" and pointing right at him.

She spanked him.

Said Stephanie Ruhle, in a judgment Trump would consider crushing: "She beat him at the business of television."

Fmr Pres Trump on healthcare:

May 21, 2015
I'm not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid.

Sept 25, 2015
Everybody's got to be covered.

Feb 17, 2016
We're going to have great plans. They're going to be much less expensive and they're going to be much better.

Oct 25, 2016
You're going to have such great healthcare at a tiny fraction of the cost, and it is going to be so easy.

Nov 13, 2016
It will be better healthcare, much better for less money. Not a bad combination.

"I'm not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican and I'm not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid."
-- Trump to the Daily Signal in May 2015

"We will immediately repeal and replace ObamaCare - and nobody can do that like me. We will save $'s and have much better healthcare!"
-- Trump tweet in February 2016

So, after all these years, all fmr Pres Trump has regarding healthcare is a "concept?"
