Donald Trump Announces Plan to Change Elections

President-elect Donald Trump has announced a sweeping plan to change the way U.S. elections are carried out.

While there have been some isolated cases of election fraud as a result of postal voting, such as in the 2018 North Carolina primary, which was re-run after a consultant for the Republican candidate tampered with absentee voting papers, the rate of voting fraud overall in the U.S. is less than 0.0009 percent, according to a 2017 study by the Brennan Center for Justice, external.

"There's simply no basis for the conspiracy theory that voting by mail causes fraud," Federal Election Commission head Ellen Weintraub said.

"Despite railing against mail-in voting, this year Trump changed his tune, actively encouraging his supporters to vote for him early.

"I am telling everyone to vote early," Trump said on a podcast hosted by Dan Bongino.

Meanwhile, in a series of virtual town halls and robocalls, Trump and daughter-in-law Lara Trump, the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, actively encouraged voters to take advantage of early voting options, including mail-in ballots.

"Hi, this is Lara Trump calling on behalf of President Trump's campaign, and we're urging you to get out and vote before election day," one robocall said, according to CNN.

Earlier this year, Lara Trump voiced a robocall falsely alleging massive fraud in the 2020 election due to mail-in ballots."

What's laughable is that Trump has never shown any interest in "fair" elections. He's been the master of deceit and deception in every deal he's ever made. Including his bid for the presidency. I don't expect any less from him in the future.

Remember, Russia calls itself a Republic, too, and we all know how that works out to keep Vladimir Putin in office as an interminable dictator. And we all know what happens if anybody dares to oppose him.

A free America is a threat to Trump. What he really wants is a knee on our neck.

Presidential elections are already based exclusively on the outcome of the Electoral College votes and have been since the very beginning. Trump has no idea whatsoever what he's talking about.

This sounds very... well.. Russian.

I have no problem with requiring voter ID, which should include proof of citizenship. But there's absolutely NO reason to do away with early and mail-in voting. Unless of course you're trying to intimidate the electorate at the ballot box.

Are we going to have to dip our finger in ink, as well? Sometimes I think Trump is actively trying to start a civil war.

I vote in Chile and we have an election with observers from several parties and they count all of the ballots in one day. Nobody cheats as they respect their democracy as having came from a dictatorship. I really do not trust these electronic machines in the USA. I know that there is 'no' mass voting fraud going on in the U$A and think that having a paper ballot is not really such a horrible thing as people think. Then of course, the right wing will try to toss away and change ballots as that is what they do and get caught doing every election so there's that. They also gas light the left for what they do. I guess the USA will have to suffer a dictatorship so as people once again start to respect what they have. Get rid of the electoral college BS would be a step in the right direction though.
