Musk Emails Demand to Entire Federal Workforce

Unelected billionaire Elon Musk sent an email to all federal employees Saturday demanding that they reply back with five bullet points of what they achieved last week by Monday at 11:59 p.m., saying in a Twitter post that if they don't it would be considered their resignation. The demand has been met by numerous federal agencies and departments telling their employees not to respond absent further guidance.

Comments

... as if Mr Musk cares about, or even might read, their replies.

Why is Pres Trump endorsing this action?

Musk runs the show. Trump's just the figurehead.

The fed workers should say they did a ---- ton of ketamine and then waved a chainsaw around like a total spaz.

I think it is more precise to say Musk is the unelected hatchet man who is carrying out the plans of Trump and Project 2025 to dismantle and privatize federal agencies:

Project 2025's plan to gut civil service with mass firing

Even as Trump tries to disavow the rightwing blueprint, both have similar plans to replace many federal employees

Speaking about federal employees last month, the former president said: "They're destroying this country. They're crooked people, they're dishonest people. They're going to be held accountable."

www.theguardian.com

And:

Project 2025 Seeks to Dismantle Agencies, Terminate Up To 1 Million Federal Workers

The plan promises a takeover of our country's system of checks and balances in order to "dismantle the administrative state" " the operations of federal agencies and programs according to current law and regulation, including many of the laws and regulations that govern federal employment.

"Project 2025 will take away freedoms and rights from every American, will hurt the middle class and working families, and is a threat to our democracy," said AFGE President Everett Kelley. "It's a takeover of our federal government in a manner that is not loyal to the Constitution and the law, has no interest in listening to the people, and will force employees to take orders, legal or not, or be terminated."

The bad news is they are just beginning their destructive rampage:

Here are the highlights--or rather lowlights--of Project 2025 to help you understand how these plans would undermine national security, destroy democracy, and take away our rights:

@#4 ... I think it is more precise to say Musk is the unelected hatchet man who is carrying out the plans of Trump and Project 2025 to dismantle and privatize federal agencies: ...

Yup.

And Pres Trump endorses Mr Musk's actions because the anger is directed at Mr Musk, not Pres Trump.

Stated differently, Pres Trump seems to be cowardly hiding the shield of Mr Musk.

Cowardly.

While his Vice Pres is talking about manning it up.

3. Not to mention their six rounds of golf during work hours.

#6 | Posted by Dbt2 at 2025-02-22 09:17 PM

... Hundreds of thousands of federal workers have little more than 48 hours to explain what they accomplished over the last week as part of billionaire Elon Musk's crusade to slash what he describes as "waste everywhere" in the federal government. ...

So far, Mr Musk's "waste everywhere" expedition has come up relatively null. Little more than apparent lies to justify it.

But that aside ...

Why does Mr Musk now think it is up to the individual workers to justify why they were hired?

Should not Mr Musk be asking the managers why they justified that position in the first place?

Yeah, Mr Musk's slash and burn approach looks to have some fundamental issues.

Who exactly is going to read these hundreds of thousands of reports? AI, I would assume? Programmed to look for what?

@#8 ... Who exactly is going to read these hundreds of thousands of reports? ...

That's the point.

"Who exactly is going to read these hundreds of thousands of reports? AI, I would assume? Programmed to look for what?"

Presumably whether it complied with the request, including a response with five bullet points and carbon copying the email to a supervisor in the same organization. Otherwise, it would probably be flagged for a person to review.

A relative of mine works at the VA received this email. She received a message from her supervisor and the union not to respond to it, for now.

History will probably remember this as an attempt to micromanage the entire federal workforce, a la Jimmy Carter, except with "AI".

Who does this egomaniac think he is?

Between him and Trump, this is Narcissism Run Wild. And, of course, we are all paying for it, some just more than others at the moment.

And it's all totally unnecessary; trying to use shock and awe rather than playing by the rules and going through the Congress... which they already own!

The administration has made it clear he's not I'm charge of anything.
The only responses he deserves is GFY.

I think its just a troll by the current administration, but the employees being told not to respond may be reaction this administration was looking for.

Elmo loves spam. His platform is nothing but spam now.

Spam spam spam!

Never respond to spam. It only encourages more spam.

It was the proper reaction to this ridiculous spamming by an unelected Elmo.

This is Trumpanzee's version of killing PATCO and firing all the air traffic controllers. Destroy the unions.

Setting us up for more of that trickle-down economic voodoo that magically flows the other way... republicl0wnery at its best. Gotta love it always going on about who deserves what and why... hallmarks of guilty consciences... trying to fool Gawd... because they went for the soft targets. OOOOOOOOO lookie me... I'm saving the money you never had... ain't I wunnerful?

IMO this is horrible management on Musk's part, I have been critical of him in the past and believe perhaps he's suffering from long term ketamine use.

Listen/watch Musk from 10 years ago, and one today. He has alot of money, but he's gotten dumber.

She received a message from her supervisor and the union not to respond to it, for now.

If your relative received this message, they should reply. My guess is what they are looking for is for people that are actually proud of what they do, and have done this week.

It is just a test, the answer doesn't matter. People like DialAgain, and Gaslighter probably have never worked in a real office where ---- gets done, asking who is going to read it, no one, no one is going to read it, because thats not the point.

I think its just a troll by the current administration,

idk your definition of troll, but there is a purpose to email. To weed out all the people that didn't do ----, ergo wont respond. The purpose of Management, and Unions telling people not to respond is to protect those that don't do ----.

Is this a good management tactic, no, is it what is happening, most assuredly.

LOL Biden took a vacation 500+ days during his term, all this talk about Trump and golf is pretty funny with that stick in your eye.

lol the noxious orange pedo lived on the links while Covid was killing 3500 Americans every day.

And you'd look pretty funny with that stick up yer butt.

Many if not most of Biden's "vacations" were working "vacations" many at Camp David.

If you really wanna honestly compare vacations you will have to talk about the costs of those vacations.

Pretty sure you are not interested in being honest tho.

"purpose to email. To weed out all the people that didn't do ----, ergo wont respond."

FBI Director and DEI Hire Kash Patel has already advised FBI employees not to respond.

So hey, you might be on to something there!

Kash Patel tells FBI staff to ignore Elon Musk's productivity email as signs of power struggles emerge in D.C.: reports

They will study all the responses carefully and then determine that all the straight white men are valuable assets and the rest are dead weight that need to be fired.

Would it be any surprise if what they are really checking is who even opens up the email, and WHEN?

If you run the email servers, they know the status of this email in your box.

Given its a concern that most of the Federal Government doesn't go to the office, are they even opening up emails?

To see what the extent of damage fear tactics can generate. Fractures with how officers are recognized, appointed and that hierarchy is being challenged while thousand are being fired immediately, imo.

Musk is not even the administrator. What is the management flowchart for DOGE?

#28 | Posted by redlightrobot at 2025-02-23 02:23 PM

I will agree this is stupid. If anything, they should have every employee respond to a head of their section or division, and then have the supervisors report.

#29 | Posted by boaz at 2025-02-23 02:24 PM

"If your relative received this message, they should reply. My guess is what they are looking for is for people that are actually proud of what they do, and have done this week."

And what about people who have been on sick leave or annual leave, or will be tomorrow and are unable to respond?

Of course, it will be easy to comply with this initially by listing 5 job functions or 5 examples of implementing particular job functions, but it sounds like this could be a weekly thing. The concern that many people have is that if the response is not worded just right, then it could be used to by DOGE to terminate employees regardless of how well they do their jobs.

Isn't it interesting to see who "snaps to" and brightly responds with complete humility and sincerity.. and the rest who respond like humans.

This is some of the dumbest shit I have ever heard.
You don't need to send them a "special" email to check that.
You could check it right now.
