Former US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi has had hip replacement surgery after injuring herself while on an official trip to Luxembourg, her office says.

The underlying problem is not ACA or Medicare.

The underlying problem sees to be healthcare for profit, a goal that ACA wanted to try to diminish until the Republicans foiled that effort.

The wealthy shareholders of the healthcare companies want money and increasing profits.

And the current healthcare system in the United States seems to be tilted to giving them more money. Even though the life expectancy in the US is not reflecting the percentage increases in those stock prices.

And why does that happen?

Is the health of the US increasing?

Or are the profits the wealthy can extract from our healthcare system increasing?

I would agree with most of that comment. Except, I would say that Democrats were just as culpable in creating a system that does nothing to improve the affordability or quality of healthcare for average consumers, while lining the pockets of the industry and its shareholders.

If they had genuinely intended to begin improving the system. The ACA would have at least included an optional single-payer component where anyone could participate. ...I know.. I know.. They didn't have the votes...

I do agree though that Republicans significantly undermined the law. Especially by doing away with the individual mandate, while retaining the employer mandate.
