And we're back, after a brief hiatus. Doctor Who was the longest running sci-fi series, running from 1963-2017 and currently has a reboot streaming on Disney+.

Today is Tom Baker's 91st birthday. WTF? It seems like a I just posted a thread about his 90th a few weeks ago. Hmm, maybe I did. Time travel is like that.

I know some people here like to deride Doctor Who as a "kid's show" (which it sometimes is, sometimes definitely isn't). The funny thing is most of these people will be glued to watching another's kid's show at noon today.

Is this the same Dr Who that some dope was complaining about a couple of weeks ago for promoting suicide?

The same one. It truly is a variety show.

It's kind of ironic that the first time Russell Davies brought Doctor Who back, there were concerns that the content would be too much like his other projects like "Queer As Folk", but it wasn't. And then when he came back, no one expected him to do that, but he did.

"Who?"

The owls are not what they seem.

I didn't realize until yesterday that both Tom Baker and David Lynch had birthdays on January 20th. I always wondered what Doctor Who would have been like if it were made by Lynch. It seemed like Steven Moffat was aiming to emulate that sometimes, but unlike Lynch he couldn't write satisfying finales to his storylines.
