I remember vaguely when garment manufacturing died in this country, when I was a kid. They ran ads, look for the union label. Republicans killed the unions to facilitate the redistribution of wealth upwards.
To be fair, the liability for giving all those low paid workers lung disease from airborne cotton particles was also a financial crisis of the industry's own making from which the industry probably could not escape.
