European officials publicly and privately agree that Europe must do more to ensure its own defense, with wavering confidence in how reliable an ally the U.S., which has historically provided much of the continent's most expensive military capabilities, now is.
The law of unintended consequences is always at play. Why would Europe buy weapons from us when we treat them as adversaries, when they would need parts, we might not provide, when there might be a Killswitch we could employ on the weapons they purchased?[image or embed]
