More from the article ...

... The vote takes place about four years after Cuomo, 67, resigned as governor following a sexual harassment scandal. Yet he has been the favorite throughout the race, with his deep experience, nearly universal name recognition, strong political connections and juggernaut fundraising apparatus.

The party's progressive wing, meanwhile, has coalesced behind Mamdani, 33, a self-described democratic socialist. A relatively unknown state legislator when the contest began, Mamdani gained momentum by running a sharp campaign laser-focused on the city's high cost of living and secured endorsements from two of the country's foremost progressives, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders. ...

No surprise among those of us who have been following the campaign closely. The Democrats need to change. We need to appeal to the next generation and finally be done with the old guard. Mamdani is the face of needed change.

Americans are tired of Republicans who only serve the oligarchs and democrats who only serve the corporatists.

It's time for progressives to demand we move our country forward into a new era of liberalism.

#6 | Posted by ClownShack at 2025-06-25 02:54 PM

#6: You said it. A vote for the Republicans is a vote for the oligarchs; a vote for the Democrats became a vote for ethnic cleansing. The Dems are no longer the party of FDR and JFK.

The three Dems who opposed the impeachment of Dummkopf Trumpf, the tool who bombed Iran: Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), House Minority Whip Katherine Clark, and House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar are all AIPAC mega-recipients. See my previous comment on the pelf they get.

a vote for the Democrats became a vote for ethnic cleansing.

I don't really see there being a difference between the two parties when it comes to their subservience to Israel. Democrat or republican, they will jump when Israel tells them to.

The problem with democrats is they abandoned the working class in favor of representing corporate America, something which prior to Bill Clinton, Republicans typically championed. This was in due to Reagan and Republicans dominating the 80s.

So democrats shifted their focus to right of center policies they felt were more popular with moderates.

In response, Republicans shifted their allegiance from corporate America to the oligarchs, and from right of center policies to fringe rightwing policies.

That's were we are today. Democrats and republicans fighting to represent the richest people in America and no one representing average Americans.

This is what the revolution in the Democratic Party is hoping to achieve. Because unless there is a change within the party, it's dead.

#9 | Posted by ClownShack at 2025-06-25 03:26 PM

#9: Concur. And besides the Dems losing touch with the average hardworking American, they will need the 6,265,888 antiwar samaritans the Dems lost in 2024 that they had in 2020 if they want to win razor-close national elections in the future. This bloc will grow, and like myself, will not vote for an AIPAC-funded Dem or Rep. Our consciences will be clear: www.washingtonpost.com

And besides the Dems losing touch with the average hardworking American,

This is true, minorities and PoC didn't vote for Zohran, but rich college educated did.

And yet Zohran's father is a professor of Postcolonial Critical Theory and African Studies at Columbia University.

Crazy just ------- crazy.

As Democrats, the Cuomo mini-dynasty did wonderful for themselves in NYS while doling out patronage positions and contracts. If dauphin Cuomo runs as an Independent against Zohran Momdani, he will be just another Judas Iscariot betraying the party that was the vehicle of his previous successes.

#26 | Posted by eberly

Oh I get it. Socialism Bad, like Socialized Medicine. Most cities in America are full of dummies who still believe the Republican talking points.

You might be on to something there.

Just a few West Coast cities and I dunno, Ann Arbor and places like that aren't Kool-Aid Drinkers when it comes to the Socialism.

It requires significant wealth concentration and concentration of educated people (but I repeat myself) to form a critical mass of people who think government can and should help the common man, aka Socialism.

#31 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-06-25 06:52 PM

"NYC deserves to go into the shitter."

Wait, so you're saying it isn't already, what with the protests and the Zucotti Park atrocities the liberals did fourteen years ago?

It isn't already in the shitter from that? Help me out here.

And what about Trump's investments, shouldn't those be protected from this madness?

Trump should take over New York City like Republicans took over Flint and made you so proud.

It's not exactly a grocery store.

But if you'd ever served your country, you would know the NEX/PX has good shit for cheap.

#35 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-06-25 07:00 PM

Snoofy, I genuinely want this to occur because it will be an unmitigated disaster. I want people to see what implementing these policies does to a population and NYC can be the controlled experiment. The place will go to the crapper. Allow the Champaign Socialists on the Upper West Side unleash this hell on the rest of the city. I am genuinely cheering this on because I know already how it ends and I want to watch the Left fulfill their true inner government desires and have it blow up in their faces.

#36 | Posted by Bluewaffles at 2025-06-25 07:02 PM

That's good, because there isn't one running for mayor.

Did you have a point?

#37 | Posted by ClownShack at 2025-06-25 07:05 PM

Notice how, to a man (a gender that includes GracieAmazed but not Eberly), it's very pointedly NOT:

"New York deserves to have effective, competent leadership that will make New York a Pinnacle of American excellence."

Republicans are cheering for America's premier landmark city known and loved the world over to fall into chaos and ruin.

They're cheering for that because NYC voters rejected Trump.

The GOP is a Death Cult.

#38 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-06-25 07:07 PM

"It's not exactly a grocery store."

Dingaling is hilarious. He proves how ignorant he is everyday.

I loved the Korean open air markets but the government run grocery store (commissary) at Osan airbase in Korea was awesome. I would drive all the way from Camp Humphreys to Osan to stock up.

Now they even have online ordering and curbside service.

That people had 2 options and the non disgraced ex governor was one of them.

Shouldn't be too shocked people voted for the other guy.

#45 | Posted by eberly at 2025-06-25 07:26 PM

What's been revealed over the past few years is just how much control Israel has over America.

Unfortunately for them, most Americans are done with their bullshht and are holding politicians accountable for putting the needs of Israel ahead of the needs of America.

#47 | Posted by eberly at 2025-06-25 07:29 PM

people had 2 options and the non disgraced ex governor was one of them.

It's weird democratic elites were pushing so hard for the disgraced ex governor.

It's been over 40 years that both parties have been controlled by the same group of people.

Trump did provide an alternative to the illusion of choice, but unfortunately, he's a failure and a loser. He's running the country using hate and lies, and it seems to be working. Idiots are eating his bullshht and begging for seconds.

Thankfully the Democratic Party is changing. It will represent working class Americans again and this scares the oligarchs.

They're going to smear Zohran Mamdani as hard as they can in hopes no one ever dares challenge them again.

Don't you?

The socialist, communist Muslim progressive who didn't bow to Israel?

Because, that's who Zohran Mamdani is being packaged as by the main stream media. By both Republicans and old guard Democrats.

I doubt anyone here can accurately describe his policies. Because I haven't read any of them being discussed.

All I've read are trolls repeating the propaganda they've been fed.
