Rand Paul Legislation Will Force Congress to do Its Job

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act in the Senate on Thursday.

His bill intended to take action to "put power back in the people's hands instead of the administrative state," read a press release about the bill. This specifically applies to the current process involving legislation in the government in which regulations go into effect unless explicitly disapproved by Congress. Under Paul's proposal in the REINS Act, major rules would need to be approved by the legislative branch before going to the president for signature and approval.

Comments

Wow. I agree with Rand Paul on something...

What crazy fracking times we live in.

Why all the secrecy? Why don't they want us to know what he's doing? And why is there not more outrage from the cultists that Musk is using private servers in the Treasury?

The double standard here is stark. You cultists actually voted for this? JFC you're suckers.

To little, too late.

Musk downloaded everything he wanted.

Republicans, who are normally so concerned with their privacy, seem to not be at all concerned about why Elon Musk wanted their personal information.

This is how a cult works. Blind faith.

They already blocked the congressional subpoena.

Remember back in the day when republicans were worried Obama was Kenyan, and therefore shouldn't be the president.

Wonder why they're not worried about Musk being the President.

Which begs the question: Why aren't GOP congress interested in hearing just what exactly Musk is up to?

Why does he get cart-blanch access to the entire government?

Without looking at the names, it would be hard to tell if this was a template for a right wing troll or left wing troll.

Yes, many Democrats would have opposed this legislation six months ago. Both major parties hypocritically flip their standards on a dime when it suits them. It's really tedious.

Ummm no. Try again, dumba&^.

Forcing Congress to actually fulfill its oversight duties of agencies it creates and delegates power to is an extremely good thing. If they'd been doing it all along, we wouldn't have nearly as many issues as we do.

Now move towards limiting external money in our government and you can give them the necessary free time to do their actual jobs because they won't be spending most of their time on phones calling donors to beg for money.
