CIA released a 1993 Ukrainian newspaper report alleging that a UFO attacked Russian soldiers with a directed energy weapon (DEW). The troops were reduced to a limestone composition and their remains were transferred to a scientific institute for study. A CIA officer in the cable referred to the incident (if true) as "menacing." This is NOT a CIA intelligence report, but an excerpt from the Ukrainian newspaper Kiev Holos Ukrainy' (27 March 1993), translated by the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS).
