Johnson Plans Vote to Curb Congressional Oversight of Trump

The House of Representatives will vote on Tuesday for a change in rules that will prevent lawmakers requesting disclosures from the Trump administration. The shift, quietly released last night by Republican leaders, will shut down so-called "Resolutions of Inquiry" " a congressional tool for demanding factual information or documents in the possession of the president or from a cabinet secretary " through September 30th.

Comments

More: Resolutions of inquiry have existed since the very first Congress to seek answers from the executive branch. If passed in the committee of jurisdiction, the resolution gains "privileged" status and goes directly to a full vote before the entire chamber.

The attempt to shut down the resolution of inquiry process outside of an emergency appears to be without precedent.

"Speaker Johnson is trying to blind Congress and take away one of the only tools where the majority of Representatives, unfiltered by party leadership, can conduct oversight," said Sean Vitka of Demand Progress, a watchdog group.

The Imperial Presidency is here, cast upon us on 5 Nov 2024 by a plurality of voters (49.8%). The lobbying groups (AIPAC, NRA) and Felon Musk did a masterful job passing out the Soma with the help of the kapos to convince Americans to vote against their best economic interests and civil liberties.

If Johnson were a real man, he'd dissolve Congress and hand all legislative control over to the executive branch.

It time America ended its facade of being a democracy and embrace the Trump Monarchy.

Similarly, the Chinese emperor's court in the Forbidden City was loaded with eunuchs.
Some of these eunuchs kept their withered dangly bits in little jars tied around their necks.
Perhaps, in whatever might lie hereafter, they and those withered dangle bits might be reunited.
Does this mean there's hope for Mikey's MAGAts?
Oops, tariff on Chinese magic bawls neck charm just shot through the roof.

#4: Hi Doc: One of those eunuchs became an admiral and sailed on a flatboat accompanied by his birthright in a jar. Zheng He was written about as another Piri Reis.
