White House partially cuts tariff on cheap goods

Tariff rates on small packages from China will be cut in half, though a flat-fee option will not change, the White House said Monday. Why it matters: Trump previously ended a loophole that allowed low-value goods into the country tariff-free -- the rate reversal will ease price pressures on customers of Chinese retailers like Shein and Temu.

OK, if Pres Trump's goal (or one of them) is to bring manufacturing jobs back to America, how does this "deal" foster that goal?

Trump is trying to undo the damage he caused when he suggested people buy two dollars.

@#2 ... (or one of them) ...

Another of Pres Trump's stated goals regarding tariffs was that the tariffs would raise $2 trillion dollars a year, and that burden on workers would help to offset his tax cut for the wealthy.

So, now that Pres Trump seems to have made a major retreat from his tariff "plans" how might he now justify paying for his tax cut for the wealthy?

Oh wait, cut Medicaid.

From what I've seen and read, the CEO's seem to be more concerned about the uncertainty they are faced with.

As such, there seems to be no way the are going to commit to a multi-100 million dollar multi-year plan to build a new factory.

In my view, Pres Trump has introduced such a level of uncertainty into the US economy, that CEOs may likely be reluctant to invest in America.

The sad part is that Pres Trump, with his 4D chess, seems to have brought that apparent reluctance upon himself.
