Nebraska Receives Dotard’s Big Beautiful Hospital Closure

A rural clinic in Nebraska is shutting its doors after more than 30 years due to mounting financial pressures and looming federal funding cuts tied to Medicaid, ABC affiliate KLKN reported Wednesday. According to the report, Troy Bruntz, president and CEO of the hospital, noted that while the clinic "has been a vital part of our mission to deliver quality healthcare close to home... the current financial environment, driven by anticipated federal budget cuts to Medicaid, has made it impossible for us to continue operating all of our services, many of which have faced significant financial challenges for years."

I had not expected to see this type of story until another year or so.

The headline of the cited article ...

... 'Betrayed': GOP rep torched after hospital in his district shuts down due to Medicaid cuts ...

Wow, the use of the word, "betrayed" is significant, imo.

The Curtis Medical Center in Curtis, NE is in Frontier county.

Frontier county voted 86% for Trump.

I hope that 14% has the means to leave that s*&^hole and let the majority stew in their own ignorant stupidity.

The only health care GOPers seem to care about is the health care business.
But tax breaks for gazillionaires?
Bring it on!
Such a bunch of swine.

EVERY hospital north of my mid-sized Texas city is expected to close now. That's going to be about fifteen counties. Fifteen ruby red counties.

FAFO.

My local MAGA Congressman for the last decade has gone on and on about what a fierce advocate he is for rural health services.

But he enthusiastically supported a bill that will leave just two hospitals in an area the size of Indiana.

Both of those hospitals are in the same city.

I would state the obvious: that many of his constituents, especially the elderly, are going to die on an accelerated basis.

But I am not at all sure that any individual MAGA ever really expects to die. I think that they believe that death is something that happens to Democrats.

Is it OK if we just pay attention to the reality around us?

No offense to Google or AI.

Then there is the looming mass extinction of nursing homes.

FAFO.

10 billion for 5 years.

Let's accept that at literal face value.

What's wrong with assuring that rural hospitals are safe for a generation?

What's the argument against it? You hate small towns?

Given that I live where this is happening, and have already seen rural hospitals close...

I need to tell you that many small Texas towns and entire rural counties have just been holding on by the skins of their teeth for decades.

You people took away their labor and now you're taking away their infrastructure.

You're setting up an internal migration of Americans who have lost their personal futures.

Migrants.

Funny when you think about it.

Not too funny, though.

Because the end result of this is most likely more anger and demagoguery from the people who voted for this.

They literally create the problems that they're angry about and either can't or won't see it.

#12 | Posted by jpw at 2025-07-04 11:09 AM

Because they're fucking idiots.
