Chicago at least 55 people shot, 8 fatally over Holiday

At least 55 people have been shot, eight fatally, in gun violence across the city over the Fourth of July weekend, Chicago police said. ABC7 is tracking holiday weekend shootings from the morning of Thursday, July 3 at midnight to the evening of Sunday, July 6 at 11:59 p.m.

This is any instance where a victim is killed or injured by a shooting or is the victim of an armed robber or home invader. Incidents of defensive gun use also qualify, such as homeowners stopping a home invasion, store clerks stopping a robbery, and individuals stopping an assault or rape.

That link showed a lot of interesting charts, but I wish they had some data differentiating between the different types of incidents (i.e. incidents by a criminal vs incidents by someone stopping a rape, assault or robbery.)
