Private Equity Firms and AI Will Kill Americans in Hospitals

After hospitals were acquired by private equity firms, patient death rates in ERs rose by 13% compared with similar hospitals. The research, which compared outcomes at hospitals over a ten-year period, demonstrates harmful patient outcomes and higher costs among health care entities owned by profit-oriented financiers. The increased deaths in ERs at private equity-owned hospitals are most likely the result of reduced staffing levels (cost-cutting) after the acquisitions.

The Dummkopf Trumpf junta is launching a pilot program in 2026 to find out how much money an AI algorithm could save the federal government by denying life-saving care to Medicare patients. The pilot program is designed to weed out "wasteful low-value" services. This draconian move will affect Medicare patients, and the doctors and hospitals who care for them, in Arizona, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Texas, and Washington, starting 1 Jan and running through 2031.

The US is the only wealthy industrialized Western country without universal healthcare. The for-profit American healthcare industry not only causes thousands and thousands of medical bankruptcies every year, but also creates terrible outcomes, leading to unnecessary patient deaths. Some rural hospitals already do not have ER physicians and the Republican "BBB" will further exacerbate the problem. The callous move to use AI before treating Medicare patients will reward contractors who will collect a bounty on money they save the government, creating "death panels," similar to the nefarious practices of United HealthCare (Medicare Advantage). Private equity firms have also moved into the profitable funeral industry, so our deaths are becoming more and more lucrative for the oligarchs. The hardworking American taxpayer hopes the devil-may-care superrich enjoy their unnecessary tax cuts under the 'BBB' and the platinum medical care they insouciantly receive from their personal physicians and expensive private clinics.
