RIF is a process that takes months of planning and coordination. This is the law, which is meant to protect Federal employees from stuff like this. So is the furlough pay, which would include any duration between getting fired and reinstated again. I know the Repubs think Federal employees are worse than rat bastards, but Feds are people too, with bills and families, etc.

Worth repeating.

There are many laws protecting federal employees from political prosecution. Also under a RIF federal employee's are placed on a Reemployment Priority List which gives them priority rights to any local federal job openings.

And then when that occurs there is the whole seniority bumping chain of events that will occur. As one position is RIFed into another it will be "bumped" so that there is a chain reaction effect as jobs are shifted from one to another.

It will be a nightmare for OMB and chaos in every agency affected.

Which is in accordance with Project 2025 so maga morons will be filled with glee at the misfortune of so many other Americans and the destruction of their own government.

Whats not to love about that for democrats? That's pretty much what happened in Ukraine and democrats love them some Ukraine!

We should be supporting Ukraine in its efforts to maintain its sovereignty but we are not Ukraine and we don't have to make excuses for what it is trying to do to survive.

He has deployed the National Guard to U.S. cities like Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., and suggested sending active-duty military, in an attempt to militarize the homeland in violation of the U.S. constitution.

Issued executive orders to punish law firms involved in challenging the administration or with perceived ties to political opponents.

Revoked security clearances and terminating government contracts for firms like Perkins Coie and WilmerHale.

Issued executive order calling sanctuary city policies as a "lawless insurrections".

Ordered federal agents to arrest officials in Newark and New York City who were attempting to conduct oversight on federal immigration enforcement.

Repeatedly ignored or attempted to circumvent court orders particularly concerning immigration and deportations.

Abused his authority by invoking wartime and emergency powers during peacetime for issues like tariffs and immigration, which circumvent Congress's authority.

Weaponized the DOJ by appointments of personal lawyers to key roles and removal of experienced career officials.

Illegally forced federal employees into resigning (which unions have sued to block) in an attempt to purge the civil service of nonpartisan experts and replace them with party loyalists.

Attacked independent media. Even celebrating the suspension of a late-night show hosts and comedians and has used lawsuits and threats to pressure media outlets to control what they can say.

Undermined federal data bases by destroying removing data and firing the chief of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) after a jobs report was perceived as unfavorable in multiple attempts to control government information that he does not personally like.

Trump has targeted universities by withholding or threatening to withhold federal funds and research grants from universities, citing concerns over antisemitism. Faculty have since reported self-censorship as a result.

Slashed funding to agencies and programs that support democracy, civil society, and the rule of law abroad, including USAID, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), and the State Department's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL).

Undermined global alliances by engaging in trade wars and undermined U.S. commitments to multilateral bodies like NATO and the Paris Climate Agreement, distancing the country from traditional allies.

And this is less than one year into the FAFO.
