Sniper Targets Detainees at Dallas ICE Facility

Two ICE detainees were killed and one person was injured at a Dallas ICE facility Wednesday morning and one shooter is dead, police sources tell WFAA. Police responded to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway in Dallas, off Interstate 35E.

I'm reading ... speculation ... on line that he shot into a van thinking it was transporting ice agents but was filled with detainees being moved between facilities.

That would ... ALMOST ... make sense? But ... why would he not confirm his targets? What kind of ideologue shoots at what he can't see and might actually be an empty van? Who assumes an unmarked van with no windows is transporting cops?

And yet there are no credible, consistent sources reporting that information.

Contrary to what pro-drug advocates might claim, this matters. It could help establish a profile or pattern we're missing.

To me, an important detail in every mass shooting is what drugs were in the shooter's system when they snapped.

And yet there are no credible, consistent sources reporting that information.

Contrary to what pro-drug advocates might claim, this matters. It could help establish a profile or pattern we're missing.

At unusual moments, I agree with Boaz. The biggest problem causing so many shooting in the US is our culture of violence. Lots of countries have guns. But most of them don't have our cultural addictions to violence and anger. We will not resolve the issue without also addressing this.

My first thought since it was detainees getting shot, was perhaps it was a cartel hit. But seems like information has come to light the perp just didn't like ICE.

What we know ...

The perp downloaded a document titled "Dallas County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management" containing a list of DHS facilities.

- He conducted multiple searches of ballistics and the "Charlie Kirk Shot Video" between 9/23-9/24.
- Between 8/19-8/24, he searched apps that tracked the presence of ICE agents.
- One of the handwritten notes recovered read, "Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, 'is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?"
- Further accumulated evidence to this point indicates a high degree of pre-attack planning.

Clearly the guy didn't like ICE. I don't see how this can even be in dispute.
