Yep. My wife and I are in the most heavily taxed prime in the country because we are dual income, both of us right at the the income threshold so we pay crazy amounts in taxes.

Those poor billionaires deserve every dollar they get to save on taxes. I just can't wait to stand here like conservatives with my mouth open waiting for them to trickle down all over me with their largesse.

That is to say: the ultimate goal of a tariff is that no one pays it because we've moved all the manufacturing here.

I am no trump supporter, but the purpose of tariffs is being misrepresented here. Yes it makes things cost more for the consumer in this country for things produced outside of it. But that isn't the whole story.

Their intent is to make it cost effective to produce that widget in America, So they it stimulates job growth here.

There are problems, like retaliatory tariffs the countries impose on our goods. But generally, in an economy as massive as ours, that matters very little. China is really the only country that can approach our spending power, so tariffs are heavily weighted in our favor.

Provided they are surgically applied. Something trump doesn't show signs of doing. His bar for tariffs I'd like everything else: did someone forget to fall on their knees and prostrate themselves before my kingly self? Bam. Tariffs.

#32. When I got out of the army after 10 years of service. I was offered more money than I had ever seen in my life to go to Iraq as a contractor. I turned it down for a government job that paid a third as much.

Why? Because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of working a contract and then being unemployed until either I could find a new contract or the one I was on was renewed.

Government employees generally are looking for stability over massive pay.

Being upset that the government is going back on its promises of stable employment knowing they sacrificed higher pay for that very stability isn't unreasonable.

Not to mention he's never supervised anything. Never been responsible for a budget. Hell, he's never written a performance evaluation for a subordinate.

Other than that he is totally qualified!

You think any job change happens instantaneously? That's number one. Number two is: they have no experience outside of their previous job, who's going to hire someone without experience with enough pay to support their families? Farm work? Do they live near farm work? If not, how will they get there that doesn't cost them money they don't have and/or can't spare?

My favorite start of this is: the entire budget of USAID in 71 years, would barely cover what this country spends on healthcare in 2 months.

And yet ... . That's the problem we go after first?

Never mind the fact that those usaid dollars were being spent on goodwill, so that when we asked for mineral rights or other investments in a country, we got them, resulting in a massive return on the investment.

The information they have is the 11 year old made the threat. But until it's investigated, how do they know the child isn't parroting their parents, who are an actual threat to the president?

Every threat no matter how innocuous it may seem on its face should be investigated fully before they declare it a nothing burger.

Fine. I can accept that. The article is light on the details. The service said the agents left their business cards and left without incident after identifying themselves and advising why they were there. I take that at face value. If you don't, I understand why.

Why should this not have happened?

The agents were there for a very serious and legitimate purpose. Only the school put out blatant misinformation and misconstrued the contact. That can't be disputed: the agents identified themselves and left business cards ... . That say "us secret service."

The only part that shouldn't have happened is the school going crazy about ice conducting immigration raids, when ice wasn't the ones there and no one was conducting an immigration raid.

Unbelievable.

To think you give the school a pass on Confusing ICE conducting an illegal immigrant sweep to the United States Secret Service investigating a threat to kill the president ... .. after being specifically identified and specifying why they were there.

"We are with the secret service and need to speak to a student about a threat to kill the president." No. "Okay, thanks for your time here's our business cards."

There had every right to refuse entry. That's fine. The agents didn't care, they left without incident. So why all the fuss ... . When their fuss was not just misdirected, it wasn't factual on any level.

Of someone is inside a building you want to talk to, you can either get permission to come in and do so, or get a warrant to force your way in. The warrant isn't for the interview itself. There is no need to seek a warrant for a school to conduct an interview. If they don't want to help make your investigation easier, so be it. There are other ways to get what you need.

What the problem is, the school freaking out, calling them ICE and telling the press false information after they identified themselves, left business cards, and explained why they were there.

Their freak out wouldn't have been mitigated by forcing their way into the building ... .

They completely blew it out of proportion. The agents came and asked to speak to someone at the school. They left their business cards after explaining why they were there and left without incident.

No big deal.

So why the freak out about ICE showing up and l insinuating they were scaring the children as they were their for deportation of their families?

I understand people's general fear over theirs jingoistic deportation nonsense ... . But crimes still need to be investigated. Take a breath, and listen to what the pelt are saying so you don't look like a total douche on tv putting out compete fabrications like the school did.

I should be more clear: there is no such thing as a warrant to interview someone or investigate a crime. They don't have one because they can't get one ... .because such a thing doesn't exist. You investigate crimes, and get warrants when the investigation dictates to search a place/area, or to go and arrest the subject at the conclusion of the case.

It's almost like you've never seen a single cop show on tv.

You need a warrant to search or arrest. Not to interview. They weren't there to arrest anyone ...
