The Trumpf junta is planning to furlough the vast majority of the civilian staff at a key agency that helps manage the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile. The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), which falls under the DOE, will exhaust its available funding on Saturday. As a result, approximately 1,400 employees will be furloughed, while about 375 will remain on the job for work that has been exempted from the shutdown. In all, about 80% of NNSA personnel won't report to work on Monday. The NNSA doesn't directly operate US nuclear weapons, but is a key component of America's nuclear capabilities by maintaining and modernizing warheads, overseeing USN nuclear propulsion and managing non-proliferation programs. The Trumpf junta and the Republican Party insouciantly act like the nobility of the Ancien Regime or the Romanov Dynasty, completely oblivious and unconcerned about America's nuclear or aviation safety, health surveillance for diseases or food poisoning, or hungry people who are forced to borrow money just to pay for their groceries. The Republican Party is adamant that Americans don't enjoy affordable healthcare, never mind the universal healthcare that Germans, Israelis, Canadians, or Brits enjoy who are unfamiliar with the term "medical bankruptcy"; hence the standoff with Democrats and this calamitous GOP government shutdown.
