Survivors Reported in Latest US Caribbean Airstrike

The U.S. military conducted an airstrike Thursday targeting an alleged drug vessel in the Caribbean, according to a U.S. official.

FTA: Also on Thursday, the US admiral overseeing the strikes in the Caribbean announced he will retire just a year into his tenure.

Admiral Alvin Holsey, the head of US Southern Command that is responsible for forces operating in Central and South America, did not provide an explanation for his departure, which comes two years ahead of schedule.

"Effective 12 December 2025 I will retire from the US Navy," Holsey said in a statement posted on Southern Command's X account.

"It's been an honor to serve our nation, the American people and support and defend the Constitution for over 37 years," he added.

The military brain drain is just beginning. This man has been in service since 1988 and is leaving early to run away from Trump's illegal murder campaign in international waters. Or was it because he felt a black man couldn't get a fair shake in Pickled Pete's DoD?

Where are we taking this? It's not like you can scare drug kingpins to stop doing what they are doing. Our military hardware won't deter them.

Distraction, augmented Executive powers, Wartime President approval, I can think of many reasons for this beyond "trying to stop drugs from being imported".

Which isn't even on the list of real reasons.

That's not the reason. Trump doesn't think that far ahead. Oil is the last thing they care about. That at least makes sense.

This is about creating a tolerance for Extrajudicial Murders. About the Erosion of Any constraints on Trump's ability to kill whomever he wants.

It's starting in the Caribbean but will presently begin here as well.

The SCOTUS will declare Trump exempt from criminal accountability.

Just wait, you'll see.

Worse, it leaves us exposed in other places because he's picking a fight with a non-nation state entity purely for theatrical and contrived "crisis" reasons.

This administration is probably the biggest threat to national security in our lifetimes.

Then again, given this administration's makeup, I think they would welcome another terrorist attack for two reasons: 1. they think it will galvanize the public a la 9/11 and 2. it would provide justification for increased centralization of authority in the Executive.

Correct.

Start with a group that the public will find more palatable to begin breaking legal barriers.

Then move the goal closer to home.

And finally, bring it home.

By the time search/destroy drone strikes start on US soil it will be long past the point of any meaningful resistance being possible.

The people who are executing Trump's orders need to keep in mind that while the Supreme Court may have given Donald Trump immunity from prosecution, they haven't included anyone who works for him. All have to do is look back at the Nixon scandals. Nixon was pardoned, but at least 20 members of his administration or were part of his campaigns went to jail.
