In the 1990s, one of my colleagues busted a ring of these wealthy Iranian emigres conducting auction property fraud in NYC, specifically cheating People of Color in poor areas of Brooklyn and Queens. Many years later, another friend of mine asked me to find a witness for his civil lawsuit case where the plaintiff was cheated at an auction for her grandmother's home.

Reading his case file, I was astonished to find these same wealthy Iranian emigres back to the same auction fraud business after serving their short federal prison sentences. These sharks lived in what we called the "Gold Coast" in northern Nassau County, where filthy rich Bernie Madoff victims lived.

I eventually found my witness and convinced her to testify against these crooks with the promise of no civil action against her, but could not promise that the Kings County DA wouldn't prosecute her. I think she survived her ordeal as a "straw purchaser" for these schwendlers and my friend won his lawsuit.

These Iranian emigres have lots of money, no scruples, vote Republican, and dream of a return of the Peacock Throne.
