Venezuela: Says It Captured CIA-Backed Mercenaries

Venezuelan officials say they've captured a group of mercenaries tied to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.

In a statement, the government of Venezuela said, "This is a colonial operation of military aggression that seeks to turn the Caribbean into a space for lethal violence and US imperial domination." Earlier this month, President Trump acknowledged that he authorized the CIA to secretly conduct operations in Venezuela. On Sunday, a U.S. warship arrived in Trinidad and Tobago, leading Venezuela to cancel energy agreements with the Caribbean nation.

My first question...

Why did Pres Trump blab recently about a CIA operation in Venezuela? Are not those ops supposed to be covert?

"There have been successive U.S. strikes against alleged drug trafficking boats in the international waters off Venezuela, a buildup of military assets in the Caribbean and even an admission from Trump that he had authorized covert CIA action on the ground in Venezuela. Still, Trump claims he's not pursuing "regime change.""

For decades, nearby Haiti has been a sociological, environmental, and economic catastrophe overrun by gangs. And for years, the US did not stop ICE deportations of Haitians to this plague-spot. Look at the numbers for POTUS Joe Biden in the bottom link.

And with this magnificent armada in the Caribbean Sea, what is the nefarious Trumpf junta doing to help the poor people of Haiti? Nothing. What resources could be plundered there? So instead, the flotilla will be de-stabilizing resource-rich countries Venezuela and Colombia under the chimera of interrupting drug trafficking.

Nota Bene: Through the UN, Canada and Kenya are doing more to help Haitians by attacking the gangs and reconstructing their debilitated economy and government, not the US.

Biden Deported 20,000 Haitians.

UN Report: Haiti Collapsing.

Well, the CIA did gin up an attack against an American destroyer, that got Congress to vote in war powers for the President and got over a million people dead in Vietnam.
We did have a President, Nixon, who, along with the great evil Kissinger, traitorously got the South Vietnamese government not to attend the 1968 Peace talks so Nixon and Kissinger could strut into the White House, and so there have been and are people who would consider the lives of fellow humans, including American fighting personnel, to be expendable for power.

"Well, the CIA did gin up an attack against an American destroyer"

We have Vietnam vets on this very site who either don't believe or don't mind that they got drafted, sent to Vietnam, and acquired a service connected disability. All for a lie.

My advice to the Venezuelans: put those captured on television, broadcast on some foreign news systems, e.g., Reuters or Al Jazeera. Have them hold up current editions of the New York Times to verify dates, and watch the cockroaches in the US administration run from the light. It will be must-see TV. Of course, hijinks will then ensue and we will see how good a negotiator the artist of the deal actually is...
