State Attorney General Seeks $1,700-per-family Tariff Refund, Files Lawsuit

In announcing Connecticut's 49th lawsuit against the Trump administration, Attorney General William Tong on Thursday called for the president to refund more than $1,700 per family for the struck-down international tariffs he had imposed on state businesses and consumers.

... Tong joined attorneys general and governors in more than 20 states who filed the latest tariff challenge in the U.S. Court of International Trade, charging that the federal law cited by President Donald Trump in his latest round has limited uses.

"Connecticut families are getting whacked right now," Tong said in the lobby of the State Office Building near the State Capitol, during a news conference with State Treasurer Erick Russell.

"Everything is so expensive from gasoline, now natural gas, those prices are spiking, food, groceries. And the president comes over the top and whacks us again with tariffs." ...

The AG of Connecticut seems to be working to help the people of Connecticut.

Is your State AG doing the same to help the people they serve?

Or is your State AG bowing to kiss the most ample derriere of Pres Trump?

What say ye?

That money should be taken from Trump's Qatari bank account.

All the money in Trump's Qatari bank accounts should be seized and returned to America.

@#3 ... Trump's Qatari bank account. ...

That bank acount is quite odd.

The revenue from the oil sales of Venezuela seems to go to a private banking account in Qatar that is under the control of Pres Trump, and is not subject to any overview here in the United Statews.

How might I be able to do something similar for my personal benefit?

What about the $10 billion he stole for his "bored of peace coalition"?

Or the other $10 billion for having his taxes released. (Even though he's supposed to provide them willingly before running for office)

Or the $230 million because the justice department investigated him?

Trump has done nothing but rob America.

What's I'm saying is, Trump personally owes America.

"CT AG seeks $1,700-per-family tariff refund, files lawsuit"

Correction: This story and its headlines have been updated to say that the $1,700 being called for by the attorney general is not part of this lawsuit, but rather a request for refund checks as a result of the recent Supreme Court decision that ruled the imposed tariffs were unlawful.
So, two different matters? The lawsuit does not seek the $1,700 but is an independent ask?

No chance, of course, that the money would be refunded to average people. It'll go straight to the corporations and oligarchs. Just like the tax cuts that Trump pushed through.

The GOP is truly the tax and spend party. Tax poor people another 15% and spend on tax cuts for billionaires.

I hate to say it, but there has to be a better way to do this.

Simply cutting everybody a $1,700 check will do the exact same thing the COVID stimulus did - immediate inflationary pressure as people stupidly spend it on s*&^ they don't need.

And if corporations are also being cut checks they should receive, well that's even more money printed and distributed to drive inflation and add more crippling debt.
