For those who truly care about trans youth

Results Gender-referred adolescents showed significantly higher psychiatric morbidity than controls both before (45.7% vs. 15.0%) and 2years after referral (61.7% vs. 14.6%). Those referred after 2010 had greater psychiatric needs than earlier cohorts, both before (47.9% vs. 15.3%) and 2years after (61.3% vs. 14.2%) referral. Among adolescents who underwent medical gender reassignment, psychiatric morbidity increased markedly during follow-up"rising from 9.8% to 60.7% in feminising gender reassignment and from 21.6% to 54.5% in masculinising gender reassignment. After adjusting for prior psychiatric treatment, all gender-referred adolescents had similarly elevated risks of psychiatric morbidity, with hazard ratios approximately three times higher than female controls and five times higher than male controls

This is a pro trans thread.

This is a scientific 25 year study in Finland regarding medical treatment for gender confused minors. The outcome is that sex change treatments don't improve mental health and sometimes make the situation worse. And this doesn't even address the physical downsides to these treatments.

So, PLEASE, check this out if this issue is important to you. Our news media have predictably done littlereporting on this, at least that I've seen, so I'm guessing some of you aren't even aware of this decades long study and it's findings.

People who are gender nonconforming have higher rates of depression and anxiety, and see more psychiatric specialists.
You probably didn't need a study to come to that conclusion, but it's nice to see it validated!
"Gender-referred adolescents exhibit elevated levels of psychopathology, particularly depression and anxiety."

GR = Gender Reassignment.
HR = Hazard Ratio (the lower the better).

Comparing trans people who did gender reassignment, and those who did not, they observed lower hazard among those who did.
"When no confounding factors were accounted for, those who did not undergo GR, regardless of the desired direction of change, displayed the highest HRs for subsequent specialist-level psychiatric treatment (Tables 4 and 5)."

So, what's your takeaway from this JeffJ? Stop letting trans people choose their fate?

#2 Stop performing sex change medical procedures on minors. That's my takeaway when we look at the data and analyze the methodologies of this study.

Didn't you already get fact checked into oblivion on this?

You overestimated the number of procedures by 10,000% on your previous threads.

And the study says: "Findings emphasise the need for thorough psychiatric assessment and ongoing treatment throughout medical gender reassignment."

The study doesn't say: "Stop performing medical gender reassignment."

Your own study says you are wrong.

Fucking Pedo MAGAt.

(Kids, this is why graduating at least high school is necessary.)

And your takeaway is not related to the findings from the study.

The study makes no comparison between mental health for those who went through any type of procedure and those who did not. Nor does it truly account for the type of procedure.

Nor do the authors of the study agree with you.

So MY takeaway is that you are inventing facts for your takeaway.
