Voter ID, proof of citizenship qualify for CA ballot measure

A proposal that would require California to verify proof of citizenship when a person registers to vote -- and require voters to provide identification at polling places -- will appear on the November ballot, state officials announced Friday.

You already have to provide identification to vote in person in Los Angeles.

You go to a voting station, they find your name on their list to show you're registered and eligible to vote at the voting station, they check your ID against the name on their list, you sign your name next to your name on their list list, you get a ballot.

I'm wondering if the "proof of citizenship" requirement will effectively result in a poll tax for many, as Pres trump's SAVE act does.
