... and, once again, for the record, I am not opposed to a requirement to show an ID in order to vote.

Indeed, I have been doing that here in Connecticut for a couple decades. I show my Real-ID driver license (with the gold start) each time I vote.

My concern in all this kerfuffle about proving citizenship is two-fold ...

1) provide the evidence that there is a problem to be solved.

2) provide the substantiation for the proposed solution to a possible problem is appropriate.
