GOP Reps Want to End Gun Ban at USACE Recreation Sites

Congressman Pat Harrigan (R-NC): "The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) manages nearly 12 million acres of public land and is the only major federal agency that still prohibits law-abiding Americans from carrying firearms on it. Two dozen House Republicans and I sent the Secretary of the Army a letter this week urging him to finish what Dummkopf Trumpf started and finalize a rule that would allow Americans to carry on Corps lands in accordance with state law."

Every eleven minutes, someone in the US is killed with a firearm, either by an assailant, suicide, or by accident. The highest number of firearm deaths in the US in a single year was 48,830 in 2021. As of 2 April, there were 3,135 gun deaths in the US, so, 2026 gun casualties are mercifully lower than average for the US.
