The AARP Hates All My Favorite Foods

Being a healthy eater after 50 means two things: boosting intake of good-for-you foods like berries, leafy greens, whole grains and lean proteins; and cutting out the foods that clog your arteries, raise your blood pressure and risk of diabetes, affect your cognition and expand your waistline. ... And when possible, just say no -- or at least "whoa!" -- to these 25 foods.

Comments

A bit of a caveat to the veggie way, which I have followed mostly for 25 years:

www.ewg.org

Frozen fruits and veggies have less pesticide residues, and are often fresher because they are cleaned and flash frozen right after picking.

Just be wary of Gov allowed limits, as Monsanto doesn't really care about you at all.

So you don't have to Join AARP to read the link:

I presume that's the same list.

They're against processed, salty, fatty, sweetened stuff.
I'm against denying myself things I love to eat. In moderation.

For years I used to eat a cheeseburger and fries once a month... just to prove I wasn't being too rigid, lol.

AARP is a front for United Healthcare, where Mehmet Oz (and other Trumpf junta apparatchiks) own stock.

Why does the owner of this site post AARP articles where you need a AARP membership?

I mean I get some media site, or news site but AARP?

What 34yo is going to buy an AARP membership?

I hope you washed it down with a malt. My local burger stand does a good 'un. They're getting hard to find.

Regarding the evil "25 foods".

I think I've eaten them all and yet here I am.. still kicking it. I just don't just eat them ALL THE TIME. I eat other fresh home prepared cooked foods mostly (also I was smart once upon a time and fell in love with and married a chef!)

In defense of those who may still eat them. When I was working full time and in the Marines I had to eat what I could get when I could get it. Or not eat at all. So I sympathize with those who work full time and don't always have someone to prepare fresh healthy food for them. Plus healthy foods are usually more expensive..

Side note: (I had to literally "sue" (request mast) to even get the Marines to feed us properly as the cooks were stealing the good stuff and taking it out the back door!)

Also - The air fryer makes great French fries, chicken, fish, and most other previously oil fried foods.

Finally- Everything in moderation.
