Two people were arrested after an attempted jewelry heist, leaving a car crash and capsized boat in their wake. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, authorities received reports of a man and woman breaking into a residential storage container near the Hood Canal Bridge around 8 a.m. Tuesday. It is estimated the suspects initially made off with approximately $11,000 worth of gold and jewelry. The victim of the theft told authorities the two fled the scene in an SUV with covered license plates and, in an effort to stop them, the victim threw a piece of wood at their windshield, shattering it. The JCSO and Kitsap County Sheriff's Office responded to the call and found the SUV the suspects were reportedly driving.
