Former MAGA Mesa County, CO County Clerk Tina Peters was found guilty by a jury of Mesa County residents on seven counts, including four felonies, after she helped facilitate unauthorized access to county voting equipment that she was supposed to safeguard but instead secretly and illegally searched for voter fraud. Her supporters have never shown that the machines were involved in any sort of election manipulation.

It is not the first time the details of Sheehy's life before politics have come under scrutiny for their truthfulness. Sheehy's past, including a gunshot wound that may have been sustained in Glacier National Park, claims of parachute training over Glacier, and his business dealings including his aerial firefighting company, Bridger Aerospace, have come under fire. The number "1488" is a common symbol used among hate groups. The "14" is shorthand for the "14 Words," a stand-in for a white supremacist slogan, while "88" refers to an abbreviation of "Heil Hitler," since H is the eighth letter of the alphabet.
