January 6 has become a date of hallowed pagan sacredness to the ruling class " a supposed talisman marking chaos, a shorthand for "threats to democracy." But the media, predictably, has focused on the wrong January. And the wrong threat. Because the real January 6 " the one that changed everything " wasn't in 2021. It happened four years earlier, in 2017. Not at the Capitol, but rather in a glass-walled conference room on the 26th floor of Trump Tower. That morning, President-elect Donald J. Trump received a classified briefing from top intelligence officials " a routine, transitional step for any incoming commander in chief. But what he got wasn't intelligence. It was a malicious setup, a trap.
The reason I posted this is I'm shocked Cilizza is willing to admit this.
In less than six months, the entire world has been turned upside down. There is no longer such a thing as conventional wisdom or the status quo. The unthinkable has become the banal. Take illegal immigration -- remember the 10,000 daily illegal entries under former President Joe Biden? Recall the only solution was supposedly "comprehensive immigration reform"--a euphemism for mass amnesties. Now, there is no such thing as daily new illegal immigration. It simply disappeared with common-sense enforcement of existing immigration laws -- and a new president. How about the 40,000-50,000 shortfall in military recruitment?
A Mexican national living illegally in Mission, Texas, has been arrested for allegedly running an operation that hired and harbored illegal aliens at a local taco restaurant. According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Juan Ramirez Cortez, 39, was taken into custody on July 10 after a coordinated investigation led by the FBI in collaboration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Department of Public Safety. Cortez now stands accused of reportedly knowingly employing illegal aliens without any authorization to work in the U.S. while managing the Ole Taco restaurant in Mission, Texas.
Democrats were virtually salivating as they unanimously voted against Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill two weeks ago, which certainly should give pause to Republicans as they prepare for the midterms and the 2028 elections beyond. What gives the Democrats hope that they can campaign effectively against Trump's mega-bill? Is it the fact that Republicans were able to make permanent the 2017 tax cuts? Are they planning to campaign against the "no tax on tips" provision that even Kamala Harris supported? Will they claim that funding border security and mass deportation of illegal aliens is somehow bad for the country? No, no, and no. Democrats are not idiots. They know they have the short straw on all of those 80-20 issues. So they are going back to the same issue they have demagogued since 2008 " health care

I've always said they are part of the problem. Last time I did so (about a week ago) you disingenuously suggested it was a first for me, which couldn't have been further from the truth.
Yet, here you are, same allegation after I agreed with you very recently.
Do you seriously not remember that?
