What I've observed is people get screwed up by effective marketing and develop an entitlement mentality and unrealistic expectations.

The advantage of the extended nuclear family is that they can pool their resources.

If you don't have that option, I agree with others here. I just don't know how people survive.

I was lucky that the GI Bill got me through college, but it was my perseverance that turned it into a career.

I did a lot of job interviews and talked my way into positions.

Now I am retired and not living rich, but so far I'm not worrying.

I am so happy my son was smart and got on a track to success, and my grandchild just got accepted into an excellent university.

They say success breeds success. Maybe that's the difference. Without role models, a lot of people just flounder.

Veterans have a unique set of problems.

Their training may not provide direct skills for a civilian job.

Translating his military skills to a civilian job might be advantageous to an employer but will require extra effort on everyones part.

Plus, the culture shock coming from a highly structured environment to one where expectations are not laid out for them.

Veterans hardly come from the same background as someone who has wasted their life potential making a lot of bad choices.

Of course there are people who end up homeless no fault of their own.

The financial health of a family or even the government isn't determined by actions today but is usually determined by decisions made over many years.

From what I understand, closing the border Biden made worse and finding undocumented illegals and sending them back home was a major issue for many Trump voters.

And not just the ones with a criminal background.

However, many people like myself want to see a fast-track to citizenship for well qualified people.

Trump is under pressure to move fast since he will be in White House only 4 years.

If it appears deportations are not white, that might be the reason.

Isn't the bigger problem that the protestors are simply opposed to all deportations and not just when ICE gets more aggressive?

Aren't protestors using ICE aggression as a smoke screen to justify obstruction and even violence against all deportations.

I don't think people understood how ugly it would get, but he's not doing this on his own.

So what's your alternative? How do you get the undocumented (and some violent criminals) to line up at the border and leave peacefully?

Funny...I mentioned this before but I've kept a journal since I was 19. Still keep it today.

Recently I went back and was reading old entries. I found the one where I met her. The following week I just happened to write that "I might could marry someone like her". But, it was a long arduous journey getting to that point. I've always lived with the conflict of wanting emotional fulfillment with men and also needing her.

Another funny thing about my journal. I mentioned one day in the journal that "I dreamed we got married last night". Exactly 1 year to the day we actually got married. Certainly wasn't planned. Just happened.

In my life, I spent about 20 years supporting liberals and had liberal friends.

Yes...I stand by what I said that liberals are more inclined to have boundary issues than conservatives.

Conservatives have equally strong opinions as liberals, but conservatives are more inclined to mind their own business (except when it comes to religion and sexual ethics) and liberals think they need to "educate" you.

That invasive personality only proves how misguided they are with their Messiah Complex. This is based on my anecdotal experience knowing both conservatives and liberals.

Mormons, up until more recently, had strict rules on homosexual behavior. His family were likely all Mormon, too.

He may have been facing being excommunicated from his church and having a strained relationships with his family.

The conflict of being a homosexual with Christian values is complex.
