The key word is "assist" and not to do it for you.
First and foremost, you are responsible for carrying your own weight, so others don't need to.
The Good Samaritan story involved a man who had been beaten and robbed and incapable of helping himself.
Today people who are perfectly capable of doing something to help themselves are crying for others to take care of them and even believe there is a moral obligation by society to feed them.
The word is "assist".
