All during my career I met all sorts of computer techs and accountants.
I saw that they tended to come in two types.
They were typically either "problem pointer-outers" or "problem solvers."
One group would talk about problems and act as if they had accomplished something. They didn't commit to doing the hard work needed to fix it. In reality they oftentimes lacked the skills and knowledge to implement a solution.
They might even put up walls to protect their image of competence. And they avoided taking ownership, because once you own it, you risk being wrong or looking like a failure.
The other group sees the problem and sets out to figure out a solution and solve it. Lack of know-how be damned. They get it done.
I think we've seen the results of too much of the first and not enough of the second.
