But yeah, we can't stop our addiction to polluting energies. We should have at least been able to progress to a point in the debate where we could accept the science and then debate about how serious the threat is and what do about it, pragmatically. Instead, we have completely brain dead non-debates. Some people just don't want to take responsibility for living in actual reality.

If Trump gets what he wants it would be short term gain followed by medium term crash. So once the new chair comes in, lock in those short term gains and use it to buy your own underground Topeka. Who cares what's happening if I got mine.

Trump wants Greenland because he wants to be in the elite club of Presidents who expanded US territory. Only 4 Presisents are in that club: Jefferson (Louisiana Purchase), Polk (Mexican Session + Pacific NW treaty), Andrew Johnson (Alaska) and McKinley (Hawaii).

Trump knows that Denmark will let the US do any "strategic" thing in Greenland that he wants. But Trump wants to join the above club so he can be a "great President".
