There is a very good reason the rich live longer than we at the bottom of the economic pyramid, and that is because their lives are valued far more than ours. We are as beasts of burden, or tools no longer useful, being old and worn out.

Well, to be fair, the American people elected the Trump grifting family to sit in the White House and take from the poor to give to the rich. We all know what he did the first term, what he will do the second. I call it the "unforgivable vote" that was cast for trump for it installed, perhaps permanently , an oligarch caste that will run from the shadows, as in Russia.
One could look at that vote and say we are not in reality a democracy, with a rule of law that says no one is above the law. We are, instead, a banana republic.

Incoherence? He is just playing to the stupidity and hate of the fascists marching in lockstep with him. They would turn him off in a second if he made sense and presented actual scientists with plans to stop global warming.

Oh come on, the game is so rigged that the rule of law was murdered long ago, Trump is now the Fascist king, strutting about the world, certainly about the US, above the law. He killed the rule of law, it lies battered and bloody on the streets of Washington DC.

And, of course, Trump and Musk are both denying that that party is fascist.

It is like when Hitler was first taking over, having been elected, and he sat amongst those who refused to treat him with the contempt he deserved. In Berlin, the gatherings got larger and larger, as fascism became a terrible sickness, and then the world finally united to kill German fascism, but along the way, destroyed Berlin and other German cities, whose leaders didn't have the courage to unite and fight Hitler when it was still possible. Quite possibly,, we are screwed, just as the German people, the Russian people...so many millions were lost to Hitler.

Fascism demands several things to finally take over. Above all, it must corrupt and then totally control the law, so that all the top "leaders" are above the law. It then requires that corrupt judiciary to outlaw opposition parties, and one expects that effort to start soon after Trump gets into office. There will be scapegoats, immigrants, and there will be foreign wars to march off to...

Only one person is above the law in America, and that is the idiot incoming President, who the truly irrational American electorate chose to run things for four years.

First, the Supreme Corrupt Court with Clarence and the other far right bigots.
SEcond, Cannon being appointed to a lifetime cushy job by Trump and then ruling consistently to make sure Trump and his gang face no legal consequences for their actions. Trump clearly stole American papers and kept them at Mar a lago.

Of course Musk loves tariffs. America still has a 100% tariff on Chinese electric vehicles so people who can afford them can buy Teslas, and the rest of us can walk.

Musk's Tesla would be close to bankrupt, except for the fact that he got 100% tariffs on cheaper Chinese Electric Vehicles. That is the real objective in all the tariff business, making sure the billionaires get their's. If Musk cared about the American workers he wouldn't be fighting so hard for H-1b access.

Foreign powers like Israel and the Vatican run a lot of our country, at least they disrupt things when someone like Jimmy Carter points out that Israel is an apartheid power.

Yeah, consider me one boomer who really, really wishes this country would have a time of rational leadership so some laws could be enacted that put an age limit on executive position jobs like President or member of Congress. You don't employ a 91 year old to fly an airliner, you don't employ that 91 year old to have the power to order nuclear strikes.
We live in terrifying times, no doubt about it.

Here is the gauge I am using...it involves watching who Trump pardons and when.
If he pardons at least 90% of the insurrections, all at once, that means we are at the highest level for in your face racist brownshirt militias marching freely in the streets.
If he pardons onle a few, maybe ten percent, that means he is unsure of how much, how freely he and his goons he has appointed to run the military, will be able to shoot demonstrators.
If he actually shows he intends to try and annex Canada, or invade Mexico, well, our democracy just went off the deep end, and we are the Russians are, with a dictator stomping on our Constitution.
Time will tell.
One wonders how one teaches high school civics classes these days, the kids would have questions, but the answers could get the teacher fired.

No, Trump is above the law, what will be sentenced will be the rule of law itself, and it will be found guilty of trying to impede the habits of our fascist in charge, Trump. One man in America is above the law, and so are we all.

I just remind myself that we human beings haven't been working on this democracy thing for all that long, for most of our history we were about slavery and constant wars...
Maybe, one day, we will get it right, but that isn't today, not there, not here.
Democracy requires an educated electorate, people who understand that the system requires sacrifice, honors talent, and moves on from disagreements. Trump and Musk and Vivek are going to work mighty hard...to screw up our public educational system.

Only thing I can thing of to suggest is to remind people that if they can move, heading on over to a Blue State makes a lot of sense. Texas is clearly heading back to the 50's, first the 1950's, then the 1850's.
