The Democratic Party needs to listen and learn, and understand that it must return to being a "big tent" party, honor those who have like views on Constitutional freedoms and demands. That means losing some votes of those who see America as a haven for white nationalists, christian supremacists...and gaining a lot of votes of people who will take the trouble to turn out at election time to support politicians who care about them and their needs and kids.
I am an atheist, but would cheerfully vote for the Christian politician/preacher James Talarico...personal faith helps a person unite with others, and who cares just what rituals that faith includes? We have been divided for far too long by those fundamentalists who love the power and wealth that making everyone bend a knee to them brings to them.

Ah yes, Hoover. One wonders what he would have done to wake one day, as head of the FBI, and found that his President was Trump, a man with a really dark past. It was said that Hoover was not above blackmailing important people, and he would have had a lot to work with with Trump, is my guess.

No, the traditional independent media didn't fail us, many of them had to try and exist under new regimes of super rich fat cat rich men and women who want CNN, or MSNow, or the other independent voices to be stilled, and then loudly be a propaganda tool for the rich, like Musk, and the utterly undemocratic, like Trump.
Big business rules from the corporate boardrooms, and they stand for no elections that the poor and powerless can vote within.

Imagine someone taking Ted Bundy's side and defending his murders, saying we will never have peace if we keep on trying to get those mass murderers to court. Putin is just such a mass murdering psychopath, who invaded a friendly country, killed many thousands of innocent people, so he could steal land. To make peace with him is to say murder if a fine and dandy way to get your way.

Trump wanted to make a point, as to his power to dominate, to intimidate, and to do that he simply stole a political party, the Republican Party. To get elected as a Republican one has to show the Civil War South that they are true white supremacists, hate Black people, hate women in power, and are at the same time totally devoted to setting the rich up high as inherited wealth royalty in America. Trump fit the bill, and he has proven his right to call himself, privately, a fascist.
So now we have a wildly incompetent leader who cares only about himself and taking from the poor to enrich the rich, and along the way, humiliate women in power or Black People in power, or, for that matter, independent media.
Trump is pure narcissist and he is a danger to our Constitutional Republic.

America deliberately had immigration policies that allowed for a porous border, as after the Bracero program was stopped in 1964, workers were hard to find. And now, those hard working people are being penalized.
Yes, the American people want and demand strong borders, but at a minimum, the Dreamers need a path to citizenship.
And yes, President Biden should have been far, far more devoted to protecting the borders. He was warned it quite possibly would allow Trump back in, I remember one member of the press really hammering him on that point, and so now...here we are.
Admit all sides are at fault, but stop the violence and intimidation. Tell employers that they will be financially penalized if they hire undocumented immigrants, and everyone move on.

Democracy cannot exist, really, if elections and politicians can be bought off. Look at how Musk poured over $200 million to get Trump elected...
We don't allow defendants to pay off jurors, and we should't let the rich create an oligarchic pretend democracy here in America, as they did in Russia.

I sit here, an American citizen, and wonder how long it will be before they come after the rest of us, for the crime of speaking out, for opposing the dictator...

Israeli apartheid, holding millions of Arabs in confinement in the Occupied Territories is wrong, and clearly is just a waiting stage until more ethnic cleansing can occur. The fact that the head of the Catholic Church is able to stand and support the poor and the very vulnerable in Gaza without being called an antisemite is...what leadership is all about. The Pope is a leader, Trump and Netanyahu and the rest are gangsters.

Got to pay for those insane tax cuts for the very rich some way...and taking from the poor is a tried and true path for the Republican Party.

As both James Mattis and John Kelly said, Trump is fascist to his core, that is true also for the core of his base, poor people who are apparently easily fooled.

As a male veteran, I am both surprised and worried. One worries what else Trump and his gang are doing behind the scenes to take from the poor to give to the rich, or at least give to those who voted for him.

One wonders how many independent media will be left by the end of this second Trump term. Without them, how would we know what is really going on with our economy, with our political world, with our partially corrupt Supreme Court?
I am convinced that a lot of trump voters are in it for the "pro wrestling" aspect of being a bully, or being allied with a bully, who calls people names and then beats them up. Look at what Trump is doing across the world.

As America bankrupts itself in idiotic enterprises like lowering taxes to "increase" tax revenues, or embracing crypto which is an enemy of the dollar, when all is said and done. Money laundering is done to hide from the tax man and the divorce lawyer, I have been informed.

War is a stupidity we should have eliminated a long time ago...but then, we have a "dear leader" who ignores human caused global warming that is actually taking Florida coastlines, so stupid is what we do in America these days, if there are profits involved who cares about the hell the children born today will have to survive.

I am surprised that "our" friends in the Middle East, perhaps the Saudis, couldn't be persuaded to hand over a massive plane for Kash...so to speak.

And the midterms are not of another eleven months...plenty of time for the Trump gang to screw up things even more.

Cutthroat capitalism was, sooner or later, going to get us to this point, where the rule of law is only for the poor, otherwise it is about the golden rule, as in, he or she with the gold rules. Of course, that requires corrupting the highest courts, like the Supreme Court. A few people are concentrating more and more wealth in their greedy hands, people like Musk, and...well, by the way, I define fascism as the permanent rule of the very few over the great many of us using gaslighting, violence, intimidation and here we are, in modern day America, looking more and more like original America, where a few old white men ruled as gods.
