We human beings need to have a sense of belonging, of caring for something or some cause bigger than ourselves, so if it is national sports competitions, more the better.

Imagine applying the rule of law to the Trump gangster administration...first in line to be investigated and charged with war crimes would be Trump for those murders on the high seas, for those murders in Iran. We cannot at once tell other nations they must follow the law, but as for ourselves, we are murder incorporated itself.

Now factor in the coming economic disaster of the cratering of FDRs safety net, which is inevitable if the damn Republican Party stays in power.

First, respect the rule of law, then, if you have a state, a culture that offers a decent life to all, then look to the...oh heck, why dither...I am against the death penalty because half of the blame of major crimes belongs to the culture itself...For the very few to live as absolute gods, the great many have to struggle and fight for survival at the bottom of the pyramid.

I wasted about ten minutes trying to remember all the crap he has heaped upon America since he and Melania drifted down that escalator...and gave up. I am old, my memory is not so good, I hope there is someone, somewhere out there cataloging it all, from the hidden files at Mar a Lago to the latest war crimes of murdering Iranians and people on the high seas. Trump isn't just bad as a President, he is monumentally horrid.

The Ugly never stops, does it...fascism is on the march night and day...and the resistance has to keep on filing lawsuits to stop the idiocy. Oregon is a blue state, was the first for total vote by mail, and yeah, if the far right Supreme Court tries to stop our right to hold our elections, our way...stack that court.

Windmills...hey China, how about using your weird influence with Trump to get him to invest American resources mightily in sustainable power...like windmills and solar.
I do wonder how China handles having a powerful leader clearly in the grip of cognitive decline...my guess is they don't let them have the keys to the kingdom and the nuclear missiles.

It really does seem that most of MAGA has a disability...they cannot think for themselves, but have to have someone interpret reality for them, and then give it to them in easy to understand bites.

As long as there are a lot of voters who keep on voting far right Republican Party there will be lackeys like Mike Johnson willing to do Trump's bidding for money and power. MAGA knows most of what Trump spews is a lie, but they don't care. Goodness knows Mike Johnson hasn't the courage of a MTG, which is kind of an odd truth to spell out.

The formula is an old one, to get power, the fascist far right needs an "other" to hate on, for the Nazis it was the Jews, for the UK when it got out of the Eu is was non white immigrants...and of course here in the US it is those crossing the border illegally. America deliberately had porous borders after the Bracero Program was abolished...and those folks who lived and worked in the US for decades need a path to citizenship, and of course, the American people expect and deserve strong borders.

I am an old man living in low income senior and disabled HUD financed housing...and if one listed one's saving and safety net according to how long their savings would keep them alive and off street corners begging for food...poverty, the bottom of the economic pyramid is as prevalent here in the US as it is in many other countries, but in other countries there are low cost ways to live, in American cities...rents have gone insane. And one wonders if when push comes to shove, SS will actually be propped up or allowed to fall by a third or so, in less than ten years.
But then, politics is about those who live in the clouds.
Though, living in a blue city in a blue state, one has hopes that leaders are listening and caring. Red states now...

The people who know him the best hate him the most. One could almost think that he is making sure Putin sees how strongly he, Trump, has worked to divide us one from another. Ukraine had a President who was finally able to escape to Moscow, the one in Russia, to stay out of jail. One wonders if there is enough hidden in the Epstein files that Trump would indeed charge off to Putin-land.

Trump's problem is that we all watched, in real time, his insurrectionist mob try to overturn a free and fair election.

As many have said, American fascism is on the march, it pretends to be something it is not, working for the greater good, but in reality it is focused on chaos and power. Yes, ICE has a role, but the role that it is playing out in Homan and Trump's mind has to do with brownshirt intimidation.

Imagine if it were law that women had to make up at least half of the people serving in Congress...or the Executive Branch, so if a man is elected to the Senate, next election a woman has to be voted in.
As it is, there is widespread discrimination against women, because so few serve as lawmakers. Goodness knows I believe our country would be far, far better off if such laws were enacted.

It is as if no one competent is in charge...but the Republican Party has things in control, heck I was just watching their dear leader be "interviewed" and say as much, as he ran away from the interviewer.
No, it is not a good thing to have a man clearly in the grip of dementia running the country and declaring war all around the place.
