President Trump said he would likely sue the BBC for up to $5 billion after the broadcaster acknowledged it wrongly edited a video of his speech on January 6, 2021, splicing together two comments that were made about an hour apart from each other.

Why do police put bullets in their guns? It doesn't mean they want or are planning to shoot someone every time they walk out on the street with a loaded gun.

The U.S. will likely default on its debts before the end of the current presidential term.

"What good is a deterrent if you're not willing to use it?"
Many deterrents are often based on bluffs, making someone believe there will be harsh consequences for a specific behavior regardless of whether or not there will be. We don't know how Kyle would have used the gun against someone simply for looting. It could have ranged anywhere from simply brandishing the weapon and giving a verbal warning to firing warning shots to actually shooting them. All of those are just hypothetical, unlike using the gun in self-defense when he was being violently attacked by multiple people, which the video evidence clearly showed, and the jury believed was most likely the case.

"Rittenhouse had a new toy and he wanted to use it." #219 | Posted by Whatsleft
At best, you can probably make a case that he wanted to use it in a posing manner as deterrence against looters.

"All the deniers can head to their local hospital, to be fitted with an intubation tube..."
Why would they want to do that, especially when a significant percentage of Covid deaths were caused by medical errors when people were panicking and overreacting to it?

"Ye Olde, 'both Totalitarians Do It' obfuscation."
You can disagree with people like Rittenhouse playing citizen cops, but to call them Totalitarians is basically an admission that you believe anyone who opposes anarchists burning down local business is a Totalitarian.
Of course, you don't really believe that; you're just taking that position in this case because you're partisan ---- and a hypocrite.

"if he went somewhere to shoot someone"
You would not even be entertaining this narrative, if not for
1. Kyle's skin color 2. That he apparently belongs to a stupid political movement that you disagree with, as opposed to a stupid political movement that you do agree with.

If Rittenhouse had been a socialist or a new black panther, nobody would be complaining about him carrying a gun in public.

"This isn't a freaking game show with a timer, boss, and this site is full of hall monitors. I'm not going to go back to unpack what "this sort of behavior" means. I got work to do."
You obviously have time to type out all this other stuff. It can't be that time consuming or difficult to respond to a simple question about something directly mentioned in the article that was posted.
"Violence by individuals with or without badges sucks. Racism sucks. AR-15s in the hands of unhinged mental juveniles suck. Murder sucks. Most deaths suck. History shows that most civilizations become sucky sooner or later, and that history is even written by the winners. Imagine if history were written with the input of the 99 percent of the people who lived through it. It would be much different."
Agreed.

Can we at least agree this sort of behavior is unacceptable and should be condemned? #171 | Posted by sentinel at 2025-11-23 09:01 AM
"Welcome to the world created by the Trump and his sycophants." #174 | Posted by A_Friend at 2025-11-23 09:09 AM
So, we know that the OP and the A_Friend alias think the behavior is acceptable. I'll give everyone else in this thread until the end of the day to address the question.

I've never subscribed to the idea that Christians were "better" than other religious groups. I was referring to the fact that far more people were taken out of Africa by Arabs than Europeans, far more died crossing the Sahara than the Atlantic, and that they routinely did things like castrating/sterilizing the male slaves. Europeans did not invent this sort of thing. It was going on in every inhabited continent, long before Europeans came to the Americas.

Rittenhouse, whose 2020 acquittal for killing two people during a Black Lives Matter protest made him a lightning rod in American politics, was scheduled to headline the NEPA Republicans Freedom Event on Nov. 22 at the Woodlands Inn and Resort in Plains Township, Pennsylvania. But the gathering was derailed after the venue reported threats against its staff, according to organizers. "The Woodlands indicated that they were receiving threats from people opposing Kyle speaking, so they withdrew their venue from the event."

"behavior that's been clearly present since, oh, Europeans came to the Americas"
If you're referring to slavery and how people of African descent were treated, check out the Arab/Muslim slave trade, and compare.

"I don't think anyone deified George Floyd. I think a lot of people are glad he was killed that way, and lots more are horrified at every aspect of the scenario and what it means for the United States, given that it represents in a nutshell a pattern of behavior that's been clearly present since, oh, Europeans came to the Americas."
Floyd did not deserve to die that way, but he was made another poster-boy martyr for a movement that routinely distorted facts to make every dispute or interaction between "POC" and non-POC individuals racially motivated, with the more "colored" person always portrayed as an innocent victim even when the reality was opposite (e.g. Michael Brown, Karen-vigilante Christian Cooper). Police brutality has always been a problem, and it should be condemned regardless of the backgrounds of the people involved. But the Russian agit-prop and the easy marks who propagate it want to distract from the real issues that need to be solved and sow discord and division in the same way Trump and his supporters do.
