"The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2" publication " which was used repeatedly by public health officials and the media to discredit the lab leak theory " was prompted by Dr. Fauci to push the preferred narrative that COVID-19 originated naturally. Dr. Fauci's Senior Advisor, Dr. David Morens, deliberately obstructed the Select Subcommittee's investigation, likely lied to Congress on multiple occasions, unlawfully deleted federal COVID-19 records, and shared nonpublic information about NIH grant processes with EcoHealth President Dr. Peter Daszak. Public health officials often mislead the American people through conflicting messaging, knee-jerk reactions, and a lack of transparency. Most egregiously, the federal government demonized alternative treatments and disfavored narratives, such as the lab leak theory, in a shameful effort to coerce and control the American people's health decisions.

"You can get rid of every undocumented immigrant and Republicans would still refuse to raise minimum wage."

It wouldn't be necessary.

"You seem to have skipped over explaining why minimum wages would increase."

Supply and Demand

"Prices will definitely raise, but government spending wouldn't decrease in a way to benefit Americans."

Wages increasing for the poorest Americans will not cut their dependence of social services? You really need better talking points.

"What's a living wage? Again. Zero republicans will support raising the minimum wage and they scoff at the notion of a living wage."

You don't need it federally mandated - it is a matter of supply and demand.

"Your argument ignores half a century of Republican legislation to disenfranchise American's middle class and poor."

Really? Because the areas with the highest concentration of Democrats over the last 50 years lead the nation in income inequality and homelessness. But, again, be the perpetual victim and blame the GOP for the problems you created with your votes.

"it is way past time that the US stopped relying on slave labor.
But slave labor is what made America great."

The GOP freed the Democrats slaves once - now, they are doing it again.

"The majority of Americans aren't millionaires and billionaires who will be able to absorb the additional costs being put upon them."

They will, because they will make more money and benefit more from the things they are already funding - like schools and social programs.

"Saying "wages will go up" is delusional."
It is basic supply and demand.
And what exactly does that have to do with wages?"

The fact that you ask this question just goes to should how intellectually void your arguments are on this point.

"You think iPhones and teslas will suddenly become cheaper?"

Telsas are already majority made here - iPhones will go up. But, the labor component in an iPhone is about $20 - or less than 2% of the sales price. If iPhones are made by Americans earning $25/hr or more, it make make this labor component go up to $40. So, the price of an iPhone would go from $900 to $920 if the full cost of the labor is passed on to the consumer. Yes, I think US consumers can afford that and it would make the country stronger.

"Or employers will pay higher wages so their employees can buy more?"

Read about Henry Ford -------.

"We spend more on incarceration than on education.
#49 | Posted by ClownShack"

We spend more on a lot of things - that has nothing to do with the fact that school districts 100% run and controlled by Democrats for the last 50 years having crashing test scores despite soaring budgets - and it has ---- all to do with the GOP - who has ZERO control of the LAUSD, Chicago, or Baltimore failing school districts. You did this to yourselves because your policies don't work.

"You have zero basis in reality for this statement other than to pit minimum wage workers against undocumented immigrants."

Because that is exactly what is being done today. I only care about the US citizens in that fight.

"What do you think will happen to prices should undocumented immigrants be replaced with (nobody, but for the sake of discussion) minimum wage workers?"

Prices may rise a bit - but government spending will decrease as our most vulnerable earn more money - likely a living wage. Schools would drastically increase as instruction can focus on English only and US citizens vs. trying to get poor migrants up to grade level.

"Fact, no American Citizen will do the jobs undocumented immigrants do."

False.

"You're going to see a drastic decline in construction jobs as people have to decide whether to spend exorbitant amounts of money on home improvements"

Good - it is way past time that the US stopped relying on slave labor. Pay labor what it is worth and prioritize the construction that needs to happen.

"Saying "wages will go up" is delusional."

It is basic supply and demand.

"Republicans destroyed the LAUSD or the Chicago or Baltimore school districts?
Absolutely.
#42 | Posted by ClownShack"

You truly can't fix stupid. LAUSD spends ~$23,000 per kid and their scores keep dropping. That is not on the GOP, who control literally nothing in LA or CA for that matter and even the Department of Education is liberal dominated. Stop trying to be the victim - you did this all on your own.

"Republicans are against raising minimum wage and fight against it every chance they get."

The minimum wage is a nonsense number and would be meaningless in the absence of illegal immigrants suppressing wages. Wages are supply and demand - which is why almost no workers actual earn minimum wage - market forces have already pushed wages beyond this level. Why you want illegals to flood the country and keep our lowest wage earners at or slightly above the minimum wage is the better question.

"The jobs undocumented immigrants perform will not get replaced by American citizens."

They already are - how do you think housing has continued to be constructed? Wages will increase, automation will increase (making the US more productive vs. the world), and we can use targeted guest worker programs where needed to provide the labor without the negative externalities by not allowing them to bring their children and utilize the social service programs meant for US citizens.

"Immigrants, documented and undocumented, are what makes America Great."

Only in your mind -------.

"Destroying their public schools,
Republicans are doing a fantastic job of that."

Really - Republicans destroyed the LAUSD or the Chicago or Baltimore school districts? These are run top to bottom by Democrats and they have destroyed the public school system in the US. The deeper the blue of the city, the worse the public school systems perform. And your wealthy ------- deep blue residents sure don't fix the problems - they simply ship their kids to private school while watching the public schools collapse.
#34 | Posted by ClownShack"

You really need to stop blaming Trump and the GOP for the collapse of your deep blue -------- cities when they have been Democrat controlled for the last 50 years. The flood of illegals into public schools - now 1 in 4 is an illegal or anchor baby - is all on you.

I know as a militant homosexual, you will never have children in the public school system - but stop burning down the nation just because you don't have offspring that will deal with the consequences of your actions.
