Take all of these statistical discrepancies together. What we have here is a collection of economic indicators that all point in the same misleading direction. They all shroud the reality faced by middle- and lower-income households. The problem isn't that some Americans didn't come out ahead after four years of Bidenomics. Some did. It's that, for the most part, those living in more modest circumstances have endured at least 20 years of setbacks, and the last four years did not turn things around enough for the lower 60 percent of American income earners.

This should not be a partisan issue - policymakers in both parties would benefit from gleaning a more accurate sense of what's happening at the ground level of the American economy. In reality, both Democrats and Republicans were vulnerable to being snowed in the 2024 cycle - it just happened that the dissatisfaction during this particular cycle undermined the incumbent party.

I've heard quite a few people in those categories say they prefer bigots to be open about their bigotries rather than hiding it. I guess it makes it easier for those specific people to navigate a world that they're already cynical about?

Yes, many Democrats would have opposed this legislation six months ago. Both major parties hypocritically flip their standards on a dime when it suits them. It's really tedious.

Republicans have been painting "trans rights" and fundamentally infringing on the rights of biological women, and you haven't even tried much less succeeded in making a counterargument. Trump has successfully trolled you again into taking the opposite extreme position of the one he posited.

I've seen some of these on my Facebook friends' pages. I would call them out, except I don't think they even care if they're spreading misinformation. It's the idea and 'feeling' of it that counts. Meanwhile, I have other friends and relatives doing the same thing, mindlessly reposting anti-Trump stuff without any critical thought. It seems critical thinking is dead, or least hibernating, across the board these days.

It's called clickbait. It's like all those articles that say Putin was humiliated or received a "major setback" by something that happened, and then when you read the actual article, the something turns out to be totally inconsequential in stopping him from what he's doing. I've long suspected articles like this aim to help people like Trump and Putin while profiting off of the gullible people who click on the headlines because it makes them feel good.
