I have friends in Minneapolis as well, in that neighborhood.
One whose favorite Donut Shop was recently transformed into a murder scene by the government.
There is a lot of video on Social Media about what's happening.
Far more than you'll see on the nightly news, which could at most give you thirty minutes but probably lasts more like thirty seconds.

Comparing journalists to propagandists?
It's like asking if a dietician is on the same footing as a nutritionist.
Dietician is a regulated job title.
Nutritionist is a thing anybody can claim to be.

That being said, from a First Amendment perspective, there is no special carve-out for "The Press."
The freedom of the press, in a free society, extends to every individual.
You'll often see government goons ask for "Press Credentials."
When I worked for Stars and Stripes, I learned from our journalists that there is no credentialing authority that provides "Press Credentials."
When asked for press credentials, I was told to simply provide my business card.
